I've always like Kimi as he is the NO COMPLAINTS man. Sure hope he can stand on the podium more often. I guess many are pissed off with his salary and underperformance. There are too many fans who express "hate the driver" thingy, the top two being anti-Alonso and anti-Hamilton, now anti-Kimi is on the rise.
Most knew what went on during the JT and MM years and MS championships. MM being himself he is will be whispering to JT with all the strings attached. We won't know how impressive Vatanen will be but for sure he's NEW BLOOD.
Can't blame Kimi for this, Sutil knows best. Too obvious.
My god, what happened to Lewis. Reminded me of japan '08, a rocket start. Pity his his tyre was clipped. He would have been in the top 6 for sure.
Does GP1 Series mean anything?
It would only be fair if Button or Webber takes the WDC. They have been bitting the bullet for too long. MORE RACING please.
Well done with the fastest lap. A true racing driver will never give up despite all the negative views on Alonso. Liked the way he trailed the Brawns. FUN, WASN"T IT.
Hope the fight stays this way till the last race between Button, Rubens, Webber and Vettel. Much better than the FOTA and FIA fight, for sure. 8 more races should bring more surprises. Was really pleased with Alonso charge yesterday, watching live timing with him chipping off each lap. RACING IS BACK!
Great emphasis of the word FAMILY. With his portfolio Vatanen sounds very suitable.
I see "FOTA INTERNATIONAL GP 2010". Max is a failed old witch just hungry for attention, like we don't know who he is.
In simple words it's Just BUSINESS & CHEATING. F1 is no longer a sport, sounds familiar?
Well at least this is GOOD NEWS. Drivers shuffle for 2010 should be interesting.
Even better if there are 3 drivers gunning for the WDC. Let's see.
£40 million sounds tempting. SCARY isn't it. When reality sets in PANIC!
Not impossible. Hungary >> Italy, cooler tracks. Singapore >> Abu Dhabi, higher temperatures. Button's smooth style has problems heating tyres. Vettel on hot circuits, graining is apparent. Overall Jense will be stronger unless there are wet races in cooler venues. A FIGHT TO THE LAST RACE, good for F1.
2010 - KERS will be banned (cost saved). 2010 - No refueling means new development of car (new cost to spend). So better keep refueling of 2009 car, spend only for updates. Ticket price to drop??? If Max stays, cost will shoot up for sure. Get rid of Max (millions will saved). Get rid of Bernie, fans will once again fill up the arena. Right now, all is uncertain as Max will for sure mess it up again. 2009, politics rule, fans ultimate choice "MAX & BERNIE QUIT F1 for the good of da sport".
FINALLY...next target Bernie, to lower fees and tickets.
Only one word to describe a character like Max, THICK SKIN.
All the best to Jenson Button. HE WILL WIN! Better catch whatever races that's left, BrawnGP might not be there in 2010. JENSE=2009 WDC.
Alonso means what he says for sure, you don't need to tell him. Remember Monza'06..."F1 is no longer a sport". How many have the guts to make remarks like him. Next year will definitely be a joke for a couple of years before the new teams catch up. ALONSO=MACHISMO. I LIKE!
It's been published, the 2009 Malaysia GP was short of more than 50,000 fans. With the war going on, it's too early to plan. F1 might collapse before the first race begins.
MAX WILL WIN and BERNIE WILL LOSE. PERFECT. They deserve each other.
Lewis is young. Forgive him, I'm sure he's not that bad. The medias are responsible for all the hype. It's like YIN & YANG. Lewis (good) - Alonso (bad), vice versa. Noticed how quiet Alonso is as he's learnt his lesson too. Just a learning curve. Really missed the 2007 & 2008 season despite the bickering there was good and fair racing. 2009 seems dull.
Bank balance must be dwindling. Bernie can loose it all. POWER DESTROYS.
Those who think Lewis is the best are new comers to F1. Dig deeper into the history of F1 and suddenly he's nothing. ALONSO is the best at this moment, even those who don't like him still have to admit, fair.
Millions of people want Max out. What more can we all say. MAX>>>CRISIS!
It's not clear at all. It's like half is confirmed. SHADY deal as in Max as always.
2009 cars have not yet been maximised and new rules for 2010 car? The lifespan should be a minimum of 2 to 3 years. Teams are overspending on R&D. I'm not FIA but there's something called "COMMON SENSE". If FOTA gets kicked out, 2010 will be a joke even if there are previous teams like Lotus, Lola etc. I don't believe the new teams are able to develop the car in less than a year and upgrade them with the budget cap (£40mil). By the fifth race it will be a drag. Then what if mad Max decides to change again for 2011. MAX MUST BE AXED! Teams, fans, sponsors can turn this sham around. VERY UGLY SCENARIO.
It takes a few years for the victims to surface. THE SIGNS ARE HERE.
BAN KERS. Expensive, time comsuming and irritating.
Don't worry Rubens, let Button earn his WDC, then Ross will stop him from there. Only one BrawnGP001 to race for the rest of the season. Can't do that, what about the WCC. I like Rubens, he does not hide his feelings, an honest bloke, for sure. Would love to see Rubino win a few races.
86 points is all Button need for the crowning of '09 WDC. 61 points in his bag. 25 points more to gather from 10 more races. Now his target should be breaking as much records in F1 history, with the most wins, least amount of mistakes (I don't recall him making any this season), most amount of fastest laps etc etc. Alonso said by SPA he's WDC, I'd say Hungary and it's over. Only problem, most are complaining it's boring but it's the truth. Hard to follow the remaining 7 races unless Jense sandbags and deliberately loses or Bernie says' "HEY JENSE! I NEED TO HAVE A WORD WITH YOU!". I could be wrong.
WHERE'S BERNIE. TOO QUIET! Bernie and Max must be having closed door quarrels. Never have F1 been so messy. Nobody wins here. Revenues will plummet like a meteorite hitting earth. Max is da best destroyer.
Brawn will dominate on Raceday, as usual. Main worry, it's going to get boring if Brawn keeps winning. 2006,2007,2008 were far more exciting as they were fighting for championships. Nothing like winning at the last race. Good for fans, teams and the sport.
RBR as in RossBrawnRacing as in RedBullRacing...the two top teams. These guys really earned it.
It's moving FORWARD with BACKWARD issues.
2009 will be the year that Button makes history with the most wins and BrawnGP with the most constructors points. Might as well take it to the maximum. Only concern is feeling sleepy during the races with no rivals. Guess Red Bull can keep me awake.
As far as I'm concerned, Jenson Button and BrawnGP are already WDC and WCC. Unless from Turkey to the last race they get zero points. NO LOGIC. It's gonna get boring from here. 2007 and 2008 will still be the best with the closest competition till the end.
FRANKLY, we need a new younger president and an organiser. Max & Bernie are way way way past their age to be in a young man sport. F1 is currently 3 feet deep, don't wait till it's 6 feet deep. WE NEED NEW BLOOD!
Hopefully by the mid season Alonso can grab some podiums. As for last year they caught up towards the end of the season, should be earlier for '09. Worth the wait.
Does this mean the GP2 and A1 drivers are easier to judge as they have equal chassis and engines? So Michael Schumacher, Alonso and Hamilton are not worthy of world championships? Getting confusing, car or driver? So all F1 drivers are in contention given the best cars. I wondered why we are still watching F1.
I'd say Jenson deserves a huge raise in salary. This man has waited for nine years to come to this level, he's taken enough of knocks. And not forgetting Brawn's unstoppable car, so it works both ways. As in business, " A WIN WIN SITUATION".
Oh dear, I hope it won't come to this "SOON THE HERO BECOMES A BORE".
KERS is really useless. 1. Overall it slows down the car and make them imbalanced. 2. It cost over $100 million (check how much BMW, Ferrari and McLaren has spent) to develop KERS. 3. It's a cover up for Max's rule big blunder. What cost savings is he blabbering about. 4. The 2009 & 2010 car should be the same, minus KERS (that would save cost). 5. And finally, keep F1 alive, get rid of Max and Bernie.
McLaren is on parole after the 'lie-gate'. Max has never been a successful race driver and a team manager, so I guess this is his way to garner attention and power. WHAT A SHAM & WHAT A SHAME. F1 is on the way down, FOR SURE! And fans will leave too, FOR SURE!!!
After 9 years, it has to be pleasant. Have to admit he drove very well for this season, any mistake he made was very trivial. All the best to him and hope he can bag 2009 WDC. Button's a good guy as he dosen't bad mouth others, a gentleman.
No difference from a poker game. Who has the trump card wins. Bet fans just wanna watch good and thrilling races. If only FANS are entitled to VOTE, Max and Bernie would have been long gone from the face of F1. Too much personal vendettas. Who knows, Max gets a kick out of flogging, both mentally and physically. Truth is always stranger than fiction. Just look forward to Monaco's raceday and pretend all is well. CHEERS!
ALONSO SPEAKS FROM HIS HEART WITH TRUTH. Anti-Alonsonians called him a whiner and ran him down like hell. I WILL MISS HIM LIKE HELL IF HE LEAVES F1. This great racer deserves more and you all know or will know from now.
"It is a little bit sad because you would think that rational human beings....WOW, what a statement from an insincere man. Look at his expressions during the interview.
Circuit proposal looks awful if you've seen it. Almost a square.
Feels like full throttle. I'd say LDM (85%), MAX(15%). TENSION!
markhicks69 - By the way I have never been a fan of Ferrari. My favourite is ALONSO, more driver inclination than the team. Anyway it's about Max not the teams.
Obligatory debt in force.
SAY WHAT YOU MEAN & MEAN WHAT YOU SAY. Max should leave. We sincerely need a new president for FIA. No F1 for 2010, better than unreasonable rules. Look at this season.
One down, Ferrari is out, who will be next. Max has won and also lost. Worst period in F1 history.
It's basically a personal vendetta against the management of Silverstone.
Poor Jense and Rubens. It seems it's not them and it's the car. Could they be on a remote control mode.
Competition is always healthy.
ALL F1 DRIVERS ARE FIGHTERS! Problem is there can't be 20 top cars.
The medal system has been thrown out for 2010 as FIA made a mistake in publishing the intent. As for the budget cap it's very complicated. FOTA should be powerful enough to leave Bernie if need to. So looks like next year might feature only BrawnGP and Force India. Wow, only 4 cars.
His ex-teammate ALONSO seems to be performing much much better in an underrated R29. A true demarcation between a boy and a man. Let's see who's the biggest whiner for this season.
Time for No.1 and No.2 drivers once again. But of course it has to be true as Hamilton is no longer the British media darling. So Button has to be No.1. Let's not be naive.
WooHoo!! Sounds good.
Oh no, not again! Petite brains at work. The rest you all know.
4th or 5th would be sensible. And no more water pump failure please. Dehydration sets in, fitness drops, R29 slows down. Alonso's home fans will be a great boost for his spirit which can spring a surprise.
New crafted chapter for public relations purposes. Looks like F1 is in the doldrums, so any news to capture the audience will be enhanced through politics. What's next?
"Some grey areas" that's very humble. GREY areas will be a major force, else they'll loose the front wings by the fifth race. Why? no more money for development.
300 million is too much, 40 million is not enough. So what's the real budget? Maybe 70 million then work it down as the years go by. Possible?
A man reaps what he deserves. Sad but true.
After Interlagos, oops I mean Abu Dhabi. No point speculating. But if Alonso does, hope Ferrari get their act together or else it's back to square one.
FAIR.
The biggest disrepute brought to F1 is Max.
Car and driver. Both are important. Button is good.
Appropriate photo of nail biting, Jean Todt is not alone. Why KERS should be banned in my view. 1. Too costly to develop, 2. Not safe, fire hazard, 3. Overall cars are slower, 4. Drivers' weight lost, which also affect muscle lost. Wiser to use KERS money for other updates. Just look at all the teams using KERS, where are they in positions. Only bring back KERS after a couple of years when it's safer and more complete.
Brawn and Jenson did very well, but if Vettel was not held back by Hamilton he would have won, frankly. If you had live timing on, one could see him closing on Button rather quickly. All in all it was the first proper race, hot sunshine, no sandstorm, minimum incidents and the chequered flag. 2pm or 3pm is always a better start time.
What's with this drink pump, happened in Singapore too. It cost millions to build the car with a faulty drink pump? Spain's next.
Lewis and his dad should say as little as possible. Look at what happened to Alonso, who has spoken a lot less after leaving McLaren. 29 April will be a sad day, something very harsh will happen. Just hope it's not the end of Lewis and McLaren.
What goes up must come down. Upon reaching Everest a descend is necessary. Then begin the climb again. Many slept while watching the MS wins through the years. This season is better than the last, from my point of view.
When you're down, even 1 point can be uplifting.
Well at least, there's more humour. Overall Bahrain was a good race.
Soo much hatred, like bloggers knew drivers personally. What a shame. Worst lot are the anti-Ferarri and Mclaren. Now there's anti-Brawn too. Not nice.
DC is basically jealous. I'm on Kimi side. He's the quiet kinda guy, but I'm sure Kimi does communicate with his fellow engineers. The only thing missing from DC is the W in front. LOL.
Money, money, money...what's history?
Got to give Buemi credit, let's see the overall result for 2009.
Sigh...why did they lie, if only they didn't. It's too surreal, Hamilton's like in twilight zone now. Wished this didn't happen. Sentence will be harsh. Two race ban? hope so. Heiki's totally innocent. Without the name McLaren, dosen't feel like F1.
With all the bad news in F1, this is an uplifting moment. For once, thanks to Max, if there are no more rubbish rules. 28? cars on the grid, wow! Like old times. Lola, Porsche, Lotus, Aston Martin........ Bring on the bullet trains. Just feeling optimistic. There were reports of Hyundai planning an entrance to F1, until a corruption scandal brought it to a halt.
Mr.Sebastian Vettel is the only driver who has no manager. Not only gutsy, talented, cool, good mannered, humble, most of all highly intelligent. His father is the luckiest man to have a son like him. If he does not win a WDC, I'll weep for him.
Alonso will always impress with a lesser car. Most of all I like watching how he creeps up to the front as the season goes along, his progress never cease to amaze me. Many will still thrive on his pram thingy, boring. He definitely brought 6 tenths to McLaren, but they already had Lewis on their side, too obvious. We can give our two cents worth in opinion but we will never know what goes on exactly internally. ALONSO IS DA BEST!!! Progressive.
Weird locations and start times = weird races, but not good.
Massa, stay cool! Let the team sort the problems out.
Hope there's no more protest and FIA interference. Diffusers are cleared and approved. Only outstanding April 29 McLaren hearing, just hope they don't kill them. Other than that, sure look forward to the other races. Also hope for mixed results till the end of season which should spice up the finale. There's half points hanging around.
There were many children in school uniforms on the main grandstand. Cover-up for unsold empty seats. Same in Sepang. Maybe in 2 more decades, just maybe, will Asians catch up with motorsports. Personally I doubt it will happen. But if the tickets price were lowered by 50% or more it just might help. And most of all FOM $40 mil a race is "GREEDY". Twilight races for the European fans, strange way of doing business.
Simply, it's the lack of a fast machine. I'm a bit concerned about Alonso's rumour or truth on signing up with Ferrari.
FOTA must try real hard to stick together. Am looking for a breakaway F1 from Bernie. The two old maids will find ways of dissipating FOTA.
An Alonso fan, please make it clear on the fuel level. Renault and BrawnGP didn't have the same fuel level. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 637. Jenson Button, Brawn GP, 659. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn GP, 661. Flav, please keep quiet and reflect. C'mon don't make Alonso look stupid.
Q1-1 lap, Q2-1 lap, Q3-1 lap. Don't think there's a record for this in F1 history.
That is why Alonso wants out! It's written in the contract if........ Flav, concentrate on Renault, the car has improved and it's only the third race, provided he gets the drift. Make an effort to keep Alonso.
The big difference, VETTEL is HUMBLE, Hamilton is a show off. Then the common phrase "sending out warnings" then "we have more". Team principles should hold their tongues until approaching the last few races. Look at Flavio now, not good at all for Alonso.
It's true that Ferrari and McLaren are not shinning as bright which can be boring and too predictable. It's always refreshing too see smaller teams making the cut. Frankly I prefer following the drivers more than the team. In this manner drivers will have to proof their worthiness. Most can win the WDC given a good car but with a car below par, that's how racers can be judged. Vettel and Alonso had to fight with lesser cars for points but worthy of wins. I guess Ferrari fans will feel the pain now. Look at what happened to Sutil yesterday, he's not rubbish.
lolololol. Vettel is not only a wonderful racer, also a natural humourist. Certainly bringing back the old to a new era. Like the way he lightens up the mood especially with his honest smile. Now ladies with the name Kate can hound him, lolol.
BGP didn't have any wet winter test. So they did well, still in the podium and scoring good points from Rubens too.
Buemi is racing well. Another rainmaster in the making. This guy is goooood.
Smaller teams are winning big. Vettel, Webber and Red Bull swiped the slate clean. First chequered flag finish. Quite a bit of overtaking which meant it was a great race too. KONGRATZ.
Unlucky for Alonso and Team Renault. BIC next.
F1 RAINMASTER (updated as of 19 April 2009). Don't know what else to say.
Poor Button is possessive now, don't blame him from losing out all these years. But don't doubt BGP's speed, they can make up ground easily. Button and Rubens are no rubbish drivers. Should be a thrilling China race.
KERS really need more development. Overall lap times revealed that cars without KERS were faster. Maybe in two to three years KERS will be effective. Ferrari's going through a bad patch, it happens in F1 all the time. Guess Kimi and Massa will have to wait till Spain.
I'm sure Team Renault and Alonso planned for a fierce stratergy as they didn't know the outcome of the DD diffuser. For sure he will be making a rush in the first ten laps, then pit for mediums and a much longer run. That's so Alonso when he knows he dosen't have the fastest car on the grid, intelligent. Oh, and about the 0.6 secs, for those who know, no need to explain.
The way Vettel gave Alonso a pat on the back for the KERS comment was from a true gentleman and a very honest one. Vettel has a genuine smile, which is rare these days. I'd like to wish Vettel, Alonso and Webber all the best.
Phew! What an improvement. Next is raceday perfomance. Once again the tables have been turned.
Renault! Renault! Renault! Forget KERS.
What happens if BGP's diffuser has the best and ultimate design foundation that any other configuration will not work as well. It's ART. What happens if F1 like A1 uses only the BGPOO1, can be spectacular?, most drivers do complain they don't have a winning car.
Hope Nico wins China. My god, what happened to Alonso...grrrrrrrr.
Alonso, please be on the podium soon. My son and myself has been suffering some sort of emotional depression. After watching Alonso at Sepang my heart sank.
That's quick, now that Lewis topped the timesheets for Prac1, I hope FIA don't suspect they are illegal. God knows how many changes and charges there will be this year.
Opaque? Transparent? Translucent? Choose any of the three when it suits FIA. It's like the flavour of the month depending on the officials' tastebud. DISGUSTING. Time to 'rebel with a cause'. Can we?
If only diagrams were displayed from Renault and now Red Bull. That could spell trouble for FIA. Power can be deceptive. Well, we have to move on. Sigh, that's life, as always.
Robson and Freak, wow you guys are really famous. Your loyalty with Ferrari is amazing but don't let bloggers shoot you down. Relax.
An unusual incident that went awry for Lewis and McLaren. Not an easy task for drivers as Lewis was consulting his team and his team consulting Whiting. If only they admitted to the radio conversation, they would have just been dropped back to fourth. Personally I feel FIA has been too hard on Lewis, but reading Mike Lawrence's "Liegate", this is the first time in the history of F1 where cheating for a point has happened. Poor Lewis has lost his confidence which might hamper his racing. Sutil has mentioned he's beginning to feel that racism could also be the cause...there's some truth. So, honesty should be the policy.
Renault mentioned they had a similar diffuser to "diffuser 3" but was not approved by FIA. Does this mean they had made provisions to the R29 for the double deck diffuser. Will be interesting to view how theirs look like and how much will they gain. Alonso certainly needs a much better car for his calibre. Look forward to China's race.
Now, the anti-Ferrarians can't accuse FIA anymore. Just have to work much harder.
Congrats to BrawnGP, Williams and Toyota. Innovators.
CASE CLOSED. CATCH UP. Most important RACE!!! Renault and BMW will surely improve.
If the diffusers get approved....Button will have a strong chance for WDC....tomorrow will be crucial as Alonso, Kimi and Massa have said Brawn GP will be unstoppable.
Another media hype. I doubt Brawn will take Lewis after the lie-gate affair. If Brawn releases Rubens they might go for Bruno Senna. Lewis and dad just shouldn't think it's that easy hopping over to Brawn. It's good Lewis stays humble this year. Don't make it worse and Button will protest.
Life is one big IFFY.
Personally I feel Lewis panicked after what happened, he was caught by team order. Fans will forgive him, for sure but will FIA. Max has a personal vendetta against Ron Dennis and McLaren. Talk about transparency, NONE!
It's about time Nico stands on the podium more for this season. Wish you all da best.
Of course the drivers have every right to protest. I remember a scene during Ronnie Peterson's Monza death crash, Bernie was physically pushed by another driver rather violently, must be some safety issues. Can the fans have the right to vote too? 2pm will always be a good start time as it allows juggling restarts when there's still light. Uncle Bernie, be kind and give us your listening ear, please!!!
Kubica should seek his good friend Alonso's advice. KERS is all hyped at the moment, until it's safe and refined, that'll take years. At Sepang my favourite driver, Alonso was like dog on a noose.
Unless we are Brawn, Newey or Byrne it's tough to pass comments on the diffusers. Guess we have to wait till tomorrow for the outcome. According to news I've read FIA have not deemed it legal or illegal. That's also rather strange.
Vettel's hanging wheel won't just fly over the fences, as he was dragging it due to desperation. Mclaren mistake is a moral issue labeled as 'cheats', that's worse Jackie.
LIEgate, DIFFUSERgate, LATE-STARTgate....hey, where's the RACING development and news? Hope 14 and 29 will clear out the bad media for F1. What a bummer! Despite the rain in Malaysia, I will always treasure the memories watching BrawnGp and the rest racing hard. Keep the good, discard the bad.
A 5km straight line track would suit KERS. Overhyped as usual. Overtake on straights and lose out on all curves and corners. Most cars are sliding all over that's why the passes, not because of KERS.
More fans will leave F1. This so called highest echelon of sports is too DISGRACEFUL! Bernie, bring on more twilight races. Got a gut feeling that Max and Bernie want F1 destroyed as they are approaching their twilight years. Surely they will be KERSED.
Politically they will pardon Hamilton as he's WDC, if he wasn't he'd be removed. Looks like they'll be pointless for the WCC. Remember it's teamwork, win together, lose together and also lie together. Cheating is cheating. Alonso will certainly have more to say. LOL.
What's the fuss here, Schumi is not God. There are 15 more races. Why should Schumi sarbotage Kimi, mind boggling.
BrawnGP, Williams and Toyota were running invisible KERS, they felt so much faster than the rest who ran with KERS. That means those driving roads cars have to brake real hard to get the heat, won't there be more accidents? Manufacturing biofuel like recycled paper creates more emissions. BORING!
A borned racer and an experienced driver are two different worlds.
Hamilton is a world champ. He's 24 not 14. A major mistake. Bad news sticks in people's head forever. Now he needs rocket science to reverse it. But it will be sad if he leaves F1, he's really a great racer.
'ORGANISERS WERE WARNED AGAINST 5PM START'...refer to this article Bernie.
I was at Sepang for 3 days. It rained almost the same time everyday which is between 1700 to 1900 hrs and boy it was very heavy. If the race started at 1600 hrs it will be completed by about 1730 plus, as no race is perfect. And if the rains, let's say at 1700 or later the light will still be okay. Where I was I could see turns 7 to 15 which was awesome, and when the dark clouds rolled over way before the rain arrived drivers were slowing down due to extreme wet tyres and very bad vision. Saw Button having a moment between turn 12 and 13, believe me, it was real dark. When the rain finally poured, there was no chance of restarting but they just ermmm pretended to buy time. No more twilight zone races please!!! Better just keep the 1400 hr start. All hardcores will watch the race at anytime. Non-hardcores, there's always repeats.
Brundle said, "50-50". An experienced driver can't be wrong.
Alonso knows the truth, it's the overall design that works well. He also mentioned the meticulous details BGP001, so looks like only the diffuser sticks out for debate. 14 will be.....
FIA should make contingencies to start either at 3pm or 4pm depending on the forecast. The sun goes down real fast when you're nearer the equator. Melbourne is much brighter at the same time. Racing under twilight time is too dangerous as sky and land blends which makes the light flat without any contrast and very uncomfortable to one's vision. What more if it rains. At 250 kph, it's devastating!
Only one word for Brawn...MAESTRO.
All good things come together. Great team, superfast car and lady love. Another form of trinity. Time is on your side. May they last for as long as you can hold them.
Maybe we'll have two seasons in one with changing teams thrown into the leader board. WDC with 1 point difference again? Some mystery will be great for fans. April 14........
"THAT WAS ONE OF MY BEST PERFORMANCES", Lewis need a new script. But he drove well for fairness. Alonso will always be the most calculated racer of all time.
Trulli and Hamilton moves, there's no footage of what actually happened? I watched the race replay, so it's hard to judge. Guess the stewards get more coverage. What a pity for Vettel.
Born under a lucky star? I don't think so. It was all hard work and total dedication. Bet ya, the sales of F1 tickets will be better this year due to the Brawn effect. No wonder he turned down Bernie's offer. Ross took a calculated risk and now Virgin is crawling all over his back, there'll be more coming his way. Not only a brilliant technical director, also a cool headed businessman, noticed his body language at the race, very very cool. I hope they will throw out the diffuser appeal and the other teams have no choice but to follow suit. As for the job cuts, guess it's inevitable in this crisis. STR did it with 250 people. Whatever, it's truly amazing, a sense of positive feelings. And my family will be able to witness a piece of history at Sepang this weekend. Nothing like being there!!!
Vettel and Kubica were just racing their hearts out with or without medals. Bernie, are you listening? To be fair it was a racing incident. Both gained nothing, oops, Vettel will drop 10 place at Sepang.
An era of long lost F1 brought to the 21st century. Private teams will once thrive again. A fantastic and historical race will leave fans wanting more. Next, Sepang.....
Sometimes Massa should not react too fast. It's only the beginning. After the diffuser appeal blows over, for sure, positions will start to change. F1 has been in this mode for years which makes engineering much more challenging. All loyal fans to respective teams are in shock now. In retrospect this year, the cars are much faster. F1 is about speed right, so why is FIA trying to slow down the cars. Safety is all time high, so no worries there. 1min 24 seconds at Melbourne, that's truly awesome!!!
Wow! This is getting more and more interesting. Great for the press and the fans too.
Alonso has been moved up to 10 as Toyota are disqualified to the back.
VirginGP?....nah....BrawnGP sounds more F1. But money rules.
Disappointing result but I will still be behind him for the championship. It had just begun.
Another Historical event!
Frank Williams is trying hard to keep Nico for as long as he can. Top times for all 3 practices. What an opener for Nico.
At this stage, silence is golden.
Should the appeal succeed or fail, hope we there will be a digrams published giving us fans a clearer picture.
Clever move by Branson, a man who can smell success immediately. Only the livery is a concern, another red and white? Hope something radical will change the face of BGP. Good luck! Saturday practice just begun!
If the three teams have proof that they are within the regulations during the appeal, can we call them the "WHOLLY TRINITY". Lol.
With all the evidence if the appeal fails, the other teams had better start copying the three teams, and real fast too. Alonso made a remark on this issue too.
Be careful for what you say and what you wish for.
BrawnGP will indeed gain more sponsorship than they expected, for sure.
Thanks to the internet and blogging. It brings "POWER TO THE PEOPLE".
This is not a good article to publish for Lewis. There's a lot of negative feelings. Well, here's a chance for Lewis to proof himself with a much slower car. Most great drivers do as we all know who they are. Still I'd like to wish him well. GO RACING!!!
So Toyota has an alternative diffuser. Does that mean they knew it was illegal? Let's wait.......
It should be 12,9,7,5,4,3,2,1....as the majority would favour. Medals will NOT work at all. Let's concentrate on 2009, come 2010 it will be a different chapter.
Don't FIA have the right technical personel for scrutinising the car before or during testing. For sure the specifications are all written down. 175 cm is 175 cm. That's why fans are mad about issues like the diffuser. I guess most of us may not be technically inclined, but BGP, Williams and Toyota diffusers look very different from the others. They seem to be larger and higher and from articles BGP's has a double layered diffuser. Can someone enlighten us on this issue. Surely it's not good to claim that the winner is illegal. Only one day to practice 1.
I agree with you Cyrano. Been looking at lots of pictures and it looks better as it seems to grow on you. The only part I don't really like are the rear wings. McLaren and BGP seems to be the most visually attractive. But most look great when its from the side view, at 45 degrees it starts to look a bit strange for some. Alonso will surely perform well this year as he seems much happier. Renault has the most bulky bodywork, not very nice tho, nevermind that, as long as it's fast and furious. High hopes for Alonso's third WDC title.
All has been said. RACEDAY!!! Diffuser issue next target.
The WDC wins the most race (let's say 70 points). The runner-up scores 98 points. Hey how come the WDC has less points than the runner-up. First thing that comes to mind is "what the hell is happening". It's the gold medal system as proposed from the beginning, there has been no consideration given to FOTA and the fans at all. So looks like a stupid piece of history will be made for 2009. Formula 1 is totally different from the Olympics, tell that to B&M, for sure, both need very good pairs of hearing aid.
Or if Alonso wins the first 9 races, can he split from the scene too. LOL.
Don't think this is a great idea. Still prefer the old or the new suggested points system. From the blogs many didn't want Hamilton or Massa to be champs, I noticed. Should be helluva 2009 WDC and WCC year. But look forward to Alonso, Kimi, Kubica...... Button could be a surprise for the WDC. Let's see how many front wings will be destroyed in Oz.
Wished all teams were running. Track temp has been good for the past three days and rubber has been laid. I wondered how far behind the rest will be from BGP. We're in the one digit (9 days) to Oz. It willllllllllll be historical if all is carried through by BGP. Brawn is back!
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Yeoooowch! BrawnGP on top of today's timesheets with Button. Until....
OVERCOOKED!
Frankly, if Alonso can't be the number one, I don't think Heikki stands a chance unless he outperforms Lewis. But I like to wish him the best, the cards might just change.
As long as Fry is not on the frontline Brawn should be doing well, I'm sure.
Vettel is already a star. There's also the great Alonso, Kimi, Kubica.....so Lewis will be no big deal this year. Melbourne for starters for a well spread menu.
Second day, and one breakdown, then Rubens is now on the top three at 1430hrs. WOW! BGP has already made news. For sure they will shine in 2009.
Spending most time on top of the timesheets for the first test on BrawnGP001 is amazing, it certainly feels Brawnish. Will be great if you can outshine Hamilton for the 2009 season, as very clearly the McLarens are having problems. Wish you all the best and hope to see ya on the podium.
There's this saying, "SOON THE HERO BECOMES A BORE". I might get shot for referring him as a hero. LOL.
12,9,7,5,4,3,2,1.....Sounds good.
Engineering is not about luck. It's testing testing testing until you get it right.
Who says testing times are not important. Testing benchmark the average position the teams are in. They fluctuate but in rotation to the top three. Many are aware that Hamilton was using the 2008 rear wings, even Kovalainen was at the bottom of the timesheets using the 2009 specs. I can't imagine that the secret rear wing will be kept till Melbourne, without testing and will be supreme. Whatever wind tunnel and simulation data collected, it must be put to test for results. When Alonso is grumpy it's very obvious, so as when he's happy, the emo racer rarely hides his emotion. Toyota looks impressive too.
Looks like Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault and Toyota will be main engines for the future?
Alonso has topped the day 4 morning session so far. There's Renault besides Ferrari and Mclaren. I strongly suspect Mclaren are having problems.
Rubens Barrichello deserve the seat. Seen Bruno Senna in GP2, ermmm, not very impressive.
There's no logical explanation for not testing the 2009 specs. A big question mark.
Jackie Stewart lost 57 friends and colleagues. Death is not an option for character building.
Most would reveal that testing has no bearing to the actual race venues. Whether they are sandbagging or holding back new developments, fearing copycats, it's 100% crucial to all teams. STR, Honda (Virgin?) and Force India will certainly face issues as the Melbourne race closes in. For sure, the timesheets does matter. Can't wait for Renault's next test result.
Finally, some good news. Let's hope this will be final. The show must go on.
Strange that McLaren should test with the 2008 wing for tyre wear. They're not using the '08 wing are they? Testing surely is a must. Either McLaren's sandbagging or Renault has caught up real fast. We'll see.
Monaco, Valencia, Singapore....Oh No! not another street circuit. Luca better thrash this idea and empty the trash bin too.
How long can one keep on lying. First he said that there's no loss of Honda's exit, then tickets are selling very well. With all the money Bernie made, it's payback time. The fans deserve better treatment too. So how about lowering the prices of tickets too!
40 days to the Melbourne race! Looks like the anti-Alonso and anti-Hamilton saga will continue to grow even more. Interesting.
By September when the crisis gets even deeper, I doubt it will work.
I thought it was the "Max Bernie Ecclestone" award. LOL.
Wow, two years away is a long wait. Let's hope Renault will have a winning R29 for '09 and '10. I'd rather see him win for next year and year after. If Alonso could beat Schumi for '05 and '06 I don't see why he can't do the same. It can be DEJA VU once again. 87 days to the first race, please let it happen soon.
2009,18000rpm. 2010, 17000rpm. 2011, 16,000rpm....will it be moving forward backwards?
This boils down to Bernie. Hardcore fans know all the details. Bernie, try using this philosophy "USE MONEY FOR PEOPLE, NOT USE PEOPLE FOR MONEY".
Are we stupid or what?
So Bernie says there are countries lining up for F1. This will be the beginning of the end. When you hit a tennis ball hard on a wall, for sure it will come flying back just as hard. In this economic crisis frankly, what can F1 do for the world? Create superfast road cars from F1 technology while ordinary drivers can't handle it's speed with more fatal accidents? So let's get real. I won't be surprised if 2009 will be over sooner than expected. Shucks!
Who could blame Alonso, there's no more FUN. Playing Slot Cars will much more exciting, at least one can change that little engine to 37,000 rpm. In scale that's much much faster than F1. Basically Max & Bernie should retire, it's way overdue and it's getting really UGLY.
No France race, no Canadian race, no Germany race....NO BERNIE, that'll be great!
You don't just throw points away. This is not a 100m sprint or a 200m butterfly stroke in the Olympics. How much can a pair of spikes cost or the latest swim suits which has improved swimming times. In F1, there's engine development, aerodynamics, tyres and all the technical details which enforces a car to improve or degrade. Then the talent and physic of each driver which is the most important, look what Alonso did to the R28. I still favour the points system as it elevates the human spirit for the whole team, right from the racer to the smallest people in the back room. Remember how Super Aguri reacted when they scored their first point, even Team Renault showed up at their pit garage to celebrate with them. Tweaking the point system should help as many have suggested. As for Bernie, don't just use stupid power just because you're a billionaire to stuff things down people's throat. If you want more kicks, wait for your divorce, it's gonna be the biggest kick you'll receive. We need new blood!!!
Looks like we don't have wait too long for the truth. It's impossible to build a strong Asian fan base for motor racing. Well at least Bernie gave it a try, but it's falling apart unless he would be so kind to lower his fees. Even the Western regions are bleeding, despite having the largest market share. We need some cooling agent here, but not for the cars.
deepwater330, what you wrote on the last two sentences is SPOT ON. That's the trouble when people have too much money. Trivial issues get overblown.
I thought it has been addressed with more police security during the incident. Racism cannot be eradicated. But it can be minimised which was done. Lewis should just carry on as is and show them, eventually he will win over, it's nothing new. Obama did it through time and succeeded so will Lewis one day. Black, white, brown, yellow or generally 'coloured' will be one in the new world. Make Hope and Dreams come true.
Wow. Robson you're as famous as Hamilton, lolol.
C.mon the world can't like Hamilton. Half is considered credible.
As long there's improvement it should do justice. Perfection will be impossible.
So much defense over his arrogance. Can we talk about 2009 developments unless there's truth in it.
Now be a kind soul and donate your fortune to the needy. Remember you were once poor. Like you said it's the passion in racing. And how much do you really need to live. Now you've got Fame, Fortune, I'm not sure about Power yet. I know of people who own the finest guitar collection in the world, is it really that important. And you're planning to be a singer/musician. There's a saying "Music Is A Bridge Between Earth And Heaven". Step out and be a SOULMAN....... Ralph McTell wrote this line "Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind".
I certainly hope it's true. Who will ever really know.
The Harder You Work The Luckier You Get.
Maybe that's why there's a financial crisis. Will the financial marketeers please stop ruining people's life.
How long can Fernando go on like this. Surely he will come to terms with himself. He has been hurt deep inside for a long time. But the great Alonso will thrive once again. I will always hold high admiration for his supreme talent as one of the finest racing prodigy. F1 has dug deep into human emotions that can't be matched in any other sports.
The 2008 Formula One season will be the most memorable motor racing event in history. Credit to all involved especially the racers, the teams and the fans in Brazil. Whatever, the roar from the crowd was awesome whether it was for Filipe or whoever they were cheering for. Forgive them for the jeers they gave to Lewis, for they will only realise the truth in the end. This was the cleanest and by far the most exciting race of the century. Not only Lewis's heart was pounding, I'm sure we were too. All in all the sportsmanship shown will be most heartfelt for me. Deep down I'm sure tears of sadness was for Filipe and tears of joy for Lewis could not be held back. Bring on 2009, right now!
Congratulations to Mr.Lewis Hamilton. It belongs to you. Case closed.
The true story will evolve from lap......
For sure, the racers will be fair, will the stewards be? I pray so.
Politically it sounds right. But personally ermmmm......
As a pro, I doubt Alonso will do anything. In records I don't think he has been marked as a dirty driver. Lololol, his mind games seems to be eating into Mclaren. I wonder why?
Anti-Hamilton, Anti-Massa, Anti-Alonso...sure hope there's no anti-climax to the grand and final race. Hope we will be entertained with lotsa racing mayhem, not stewards mayhem. Go go go as Murray used to.....
If Hamilton has been fair, why does he need to say this. Guilt is creeping in isn't it. Trying to figure out who are the dirty drivers....
I don't doubt you Mr. Barrichello. Once you're into F1, it's hard to leave. As a fan I too don't wanna stop!
For heaven's sake, it's either you're world champ or your're not. If you are, you'll have lotsa money to fund your music career too.
Kimi will always say what he means. That's why I really like this bloke. Quietly, he's a humble man.
As always Mr.Coulthard, no matter what they say about you, I do respect you. David knows how to give back. A good human being. May he, his wife and his children be have a good life ahead. Bless you.
I'm sure Alonso will be laughing when he receives his paycheck, while the anti-Alonsonians will have to find more superlatives to run him down. That's The Way Of The World.
From 2010 F1 should be renamed The B&M World. What an insult to the dedicated professionals in Formula One and most of all to the fans. Bloody shameful!
Wow, sounds like LH is the angel and FM is the devil. Are the fans in a state of paranoia? Poor FM getting all these comments about taking LH out. Sounds real stupid, worst of all coming from the pros. Has anybody thought what would happen if there was a a torrential downpour on Sunday and the SC will rule for half the race. Anything can happen. Unless someone has the Weather God mobile number. Maybe configuring the points situation should be better. GUIDE 1 - Hamilton will be champion if: - He finishes fifth or higher - He finishes sixth and Massa is second or lower - He finishes seventh and Massa is second or lower - He finishes eighth and Massa is third or lower - He fails to score and Massa is third or lower GUIDE 2 - Massa will be champion if: - He wins and Hamilton finishes sixth or lower - He finishes second and Hamilton is eighth or lower
Mr.Brundle, you have been a racer yourself. Your comment is spot on. But the hardcore Hamilton fans won't like that.
From where I am, it's only 3 days to the countdown. Remember, "What is yours will be yours". Sure hope your engine does not fail. I prefer a gentleman's race. Looking forward to a 'hair raising' fight!
Most know it. But when a world champion speaks out the weight carried is certainly more positive. Will be more effective if more world champs pass judgement. Feels like F1 is already dying. The death sentence will begin from 2010.
Alonso beats Shumi in 2005 & 2006 driving him to retirement. So Shumi is playing mind games on Alonso that Hamilton will be better, knowing that Alonso is the best. The more Shumi speaks the more the hardcore fans will reveal that they don't really respect him. Worst of all, he's digging out his dirty laundry. So Shumi, better be quiet.
My God! what's wrong with people, just bcos they're famous they think they can do anything....what's next Lewis. Acting? No, wait, conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra. C'mon, get whole of yourself and concentrate on 8 world championships. Gosh, I'm just LOLOLOLOLOL
You know 'Ferrari27' I totally agree with you!
Might as well give them boxing gloves and put them in a ring right in front of the paddock. Is Mr. Jordan trying to gain some publicity for himself. Taking someone out for a championship, nah, the drivers have too much face to save. It would be better if there's no incidents and let them race and win like a man should. Shame on you Eddie for suggesting such an idea. And if any so called 'take him out' happens, it's more like panic or red mist.
In F1 history there has never been equal treatment amongst teammates. There's only one CEO in any corporation. Motor racing is no different. That's why Alonso demanded to be No.1 as he is the best package in F1 today. What I detest is Ron and Hamilton's hypocrisy. C'mon, does one believe they didn't use Alonso's expertise for their gain and how would we know that they didn't screw up his car last year, let's not be naive. Poor Heikki, soon there will be some form of explosion in McLaren, for sure. What's disgusting is Hamilton is trying to portray the nice and good guy thingy, that's awful. Alonso is brash or spoilt or whatever you wanna label him, but at least he speaks out and he's a helluva great driver which many will agree. I dare Hamilton to take Nico's seat at Williams, very unlikely will he be at this level now. Honestly and truthfully, I don't wish for him to be a champ at all.
ooops in 9 days, lol........
In 7 days we will know the answer, the rest is just talk and talk and..........
Personally I'd rather Massa grab the title. All has been said about him. staying cool will be the ultimatum. Strike and strike real hard!
One good turn deserves another. Kimi will always be a gentleman. As for 2009, would like to see the previous fiery Kimi. Burn the tracks!
Consolation - If Lewis DNF and Massa finishes 3rd, the championship will still be Lewis's. Can't imagine what's going on in our minds.
The only solution to reliability is to pray very hard. Like they say, it's in God's hand. Other than that I hope it will be grand and exciting race. Some mayhem will close this season with a high. For sure, we don't want a procession.
Mr.Hamilton, "Silence is Golden" at this point unless you're not confident.
As Alonso said "The tarrrget for this year is to achieve 4th in the championship". Accomplished. With more concentrate, next year I sincerely wish you and the team from the bottom of my heart to be world champions once again. Anyway, I'm getting the Spanish flag for next year's Singapore GP.
Uncle Bernie I wished you'd just simply give back. Time is not on your side. It's better that people treasured you for the better times. There's so much angst when your name or Max is mentioned. If I'm not wrong the fees you charge increases at a rate of 10% every year. Formula One has been one of the greatest sport in the planet. You're already Famous, Filthy Rich and Powerful. I believe "It's never too late if you are willing to turn the wheels around". C'mon, do us a doughnut!
Lewis did very well in China, no doubt he deserves his win. But it's so strange that Ferrari's lack of pace didn't produce the excitement I hoped for. It would have been better if Lewis won by 2 seconds or so, but it was 15 seconds. A close fight always makes the race much more thrilling. I wondered if Lewis can change a new engine (joker) for Brazil, as it's rather risky as he didn't have problems as poor Heiki did, mind you for 2 races, Japan (engine failure) and China (gearbox failure). It can't be McLaren's team causing it, that would be wicked. Alonso was catching Kimi for the last couple of laps too fast. The last race will be rather technically inclined and with a some luck too. Can be tensed for Lewis. But then again, can be a thrilla for the final leg of 2008. Puzzling situation. As for the championship it leans more towards Lewis. Don't wanna jump to conclusions. Come 2nd November.........
Have you heard, DEJA VU or VUJA DE. The BIG PICTURE.
"On this occasion, Hamilton went in a little too hard as he missed the apex of the pit-lane bend and although he avoided the gravel, he was forced to use the exit road to the right." Relax man. Flavio has a good point.
You can be diligent and cautious, but what someone needs is INTELLIGENCE!
Oh yes, I forget this one. Who's making the most money out of Formula One!
Technically it sounds damn stupid!
LOL. Now I know why both sounded jitterish and nervous in the BBC interviews. Are both feeling guilty. Hmm. Let's see what happens on raceday. I sure hope it's not an act, never can tell these days. Look at how footballers fake falls and all that. Now, race, fight tooth and nail and show us some balls. We deserve to be entertained. NO MORE MR.NICEGUYS!
One must be careful to differentiate between sportsmanship and being barbaric. Surely hope there will be no major catastrophe for the last two races. Look at the past F1 history when safety was not in place. Too many drivers and fans died. This is 2008 not 1950s,60s,70s etc. Fans too have to be mindful of what they say here. Just for information why some drivers are not with GPDA, it's because of the high fees imposed. Mark Webber is not wrong here. And from records there are about 22 to 30 drivers in a season of F1. So these are the top racers in the planet. Technically they are all winners until we start to take things into our hands and call them losers and whiners. Think about it, can we bloggers be part of that. I doubt it.
Whatever Alonso is going to do I'm sure he'll want another victory. Being an experienced racer he will take advantage of any mistakes from the top drivers at the moment which is fair. He's a professional F1 driver. And the R28 is showing good pace. Should be a great race in China.
In Formula1, there's no such thing as no pressure. It's how each individual handles it that makes the difference. Can you imagine from ZERO to 100kph in 2 seconds. Man, that's real speed. Anyway, all the best to you Massa.
I think it should be more commendable for ex-F1 drivers to be stewards. Just have to make sure the right pairings to make it as neutral as possible. They are still humans and have friends and enemies. FIA must try it out soonest possible. Can someone fill me in as to how many stewards there are for each race.
LH,FA-Living Happily Forever After. Something for a change. So much anger here. Weather forecast for Sunday is RAIN. Will be interesting.
Thanks for the info NUNO.
Just heard Lewis's interview on BBC. Gals and Guys he really sounds shaken and sort of lost his confidence. I do feel sorry for him now. C'mon let's give him a chance. He did thrill us with his racing skills and almost won the 2007 WC. We are F1 fans, let's not sound like hooligans. Surely we all have our own favourites. Massa sounded jitterish in the interview too. Hey, they are all under tremendous pressure. I too am guilty of being anti-Lewis. Likewise there are so many anti-Alonso out there too. After all the comments we all have made sounded like England and Spain going to war. F1 is about high technology and development. Talented drivers also play a huge part. Let's all cool off. Live timing is coming tomorrow. Cheers to all and let's also show some compassion.
Singapore GP - won by luck, but still. Japan GP - won by sheer racing, well planned strategy and an improved R28. Nothing is impossible. Alonso. Make it a THREELLA!
(By the way, read on my local newspaper - Lewis, a lap down, did not let Trulli pass even when blue flagged. Can someone confirm this?) Nearly all has been said from the Japan GP. According to sources TV ratings has shot up. For sure, Lewis plays a part. Last year for being an outstanding rookie. This year for being over confident and rash. Sponsors can't complain about this, it's a positive situation. The negative projection from the racers on Lewis is at all time high. Such bad vibrations will surely have an effect on him for the last two races. Don't wanna speak too soon, overall he's still a good racer. Good for the fans, as to who will win the F1 2008 WC is now in a mystical stage. ZZZNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!
This has to be the most brilliant moment in F1 history. Please leave everything as it is! Tell me when did F1 gain so much attention...... I LOVE IT!!!. Astrologically, we must be in a very heavy period of mayhem...... But it's wonderful! As of now they are no longer racers..... They are GREAT ARTISTS. Who do you prefer Angelo (predictable), Da Vinci (intelligent) or Picasso (warped). I'd take Picasso anytime.....Cos if all is normal, its damn bloody boring......Imagine Lewis, Filipe and Fernando almost finishing their finely crafted masterpiece, then someone irritated them, then the painting is destroyed by a single stroke. But then again that single stroke can be a stroke of genius or madness....... For sure, it will surely be highly recognised, good or bad dosen't matter anymore...... C'mon, don't change the script. It's so natural and beautiful, in fact it's SUBLIME........Let me tell you all, when this is all over, we will 200% remember these moments. For those who claim they no longer watch F1, bullshit! But they do sneak previews........ Once you're into F1 there is no turning back......so BRING IT ON!. Look forward to China and Brazil.
I'm really confused here. Night races in Asian region for European fans. Then where are the Asian fans? I hope there's no digital imaging to the grand stands to show it's totally filled. Man, this is really weird.
When Lewis wins his head is like an air ballon. When he loses he's only human. Then the press has to rewrite the script over and over again. I prefer Alonso, at least he gives you the impression he's a bad ass, and does not project that he's a nice guy. That's machismo!
How do we know? There's so much cover ups. Rather confusing.
Honesty has lost it's value in many professions. Whether its F1, Stock Markets, Music or anything that makes lotsa money. The word "Mankind" has been wiped off the face of humanity. How pathetic and savage. The human race must now pause for a while and start taking stock of ourselves. It's demonic.
KERS sounds technically interesting, but looks like there's uncertainty. So how will the first few races go. Looks like it's an open game which can also be exciting. Let's hope no car catches fire during the races. I understand they are using more batteries than normal situation. And what about the teams who are not ready because of budgets. Can be messy I guess. From reports the the cars will look very different. So far I've seen only the back of a Williams car. Looks a bit strange though.
There must be some internal incidents at McLaren that we all will never know about between Alonso and Hamilton. It has to be more than just racing. We will never know what words were exchanged between them. Maybe when Alonso has an autobiography then we'll know the truth. Truth is always stranger than fiction.
There's a very simple philosophy in life, "What belongs to you will be yours". The big picture is always missing in people's life. Most young people now are very impatient, they want to break records, make history, earn lots of money, be an idol and whatever they can gain in numbers. I find that very destructive. Just carry on and be sincere to oneself is wisdom. Also don't let the media get under your skin. To enjoy what one does can be very fulfilling. Embrace gracefulness and never offend people will earn oneself long term respect. And most of all be kind. For racing it's "Fast and Steady Wins The Race".
The Dark Horse in the Untrodden Path. Bobby, go for it man! I'm with ya. Quietly, sneak behind and shock them!
Cathryn, you are so right! Fernando deserves much more credit for his wonderful race. Smooth as silk he showed the world that he is da best. Truly, a world champion. If I'm not wrong, he didn't make a single mistake at Fuji. Most were too concerned about Ferrari and Mclaren and of course the mayhem. Bit by bit Fernando is making a comeback, for I'm so glad that he said he will be in F1 for many years to come. Maybe he can be in the run for more than 7 world titles, who knows. He has 2 in his bag. He's 27. Looks like he has another decade ahead. I'd like to wish him all the best and may he take Formula1 to another level. Cheers.
Ok, guys, my apologies. I was wrong here.
One cannot help but feel it. Bravo!Bravo!Bravo!. Alonso and Team Renault are back! Ferrari and McLaren, watch your back.
Oh no! With the financial crisis and now the anger with stewards, I hope F1 can survive. Does not look, sound and feel good anymore. I don't mind if fans support the drivers they like, that's personal. But now with stewards ruling and being bias in the public eyes, that's a humongous blow to the sports. After reading all the comments, there's so much truth. FIA must look into these matters urgently. I feel a RIOT brewing. SCARY. Please spare some thoughts to the fans as their passion makes F1 complete.
If Lewis did not make contact with Kimi, as he claimed, then why did he pit? Case closed!
I thought Lewis has calmed down knowing the championship is closer to his hand. But, you can't change the spots of a leopard. What a shame, making so many enemies even before being crowned. I don't think Alonso is alone here, there are quite a few which I'm sure you can figure out. But at least Alonso is honest about it (he has to bear the brunt by saying it, that's bravery). Work his nerves up - he will surely falter. Lewis does not deserve the crown in my opinion. What's next, more driving and engine gremblins, look what happened to Kovi. Maybe all will happen at the same time. Anyway I haven't been a fan of Lewis, honestly!
The good will always thrive. The R28 has shown great pace since the Singapore GP. With Alonso's talent there is no doubt there will be more surprises for the last two races. Meritocracy has been earned from a lesser car. Now luck is a very small element. Did you all observe Flavio cool gestures.
I noticed Hamilton's ballsy move in turn 1 had similarities with the Spa race but this time Kimi was pushed much wider causing a chain reaction. There can't be smoke without fire. For sure, the pressure is showing to a point of recklessness. I thought he was racing for points in the world title which is much wiser. Maybe Hamilton should do a case study of Alonso's 2005 & 2006 championships. Sometimes, 'to win is to lose' and 'to lose is to win'. Be graceful.
Fernando Alonso and Fuji's Aspiration sounds pristine. Incidents, accidents and allegations in harmony. Today the God of Truth reigns. Sincerely, a race worth remembering. Now we can't complain can we, how much overtaking was there?. Too much I guess. Once again, "Congratulations to Fernando and Renault for an 'Impeccable' race". Also not forgetting Piquet for a great drive, you have earned my respect. Yeoooowch!
My son said today, "Whatever team Alonso is with, I will buy his cap". That's loyalty.
Mr.Dennis, say something we haven't heard before.
Remember when there's heat, for sure, Massa will thrive. Looks like it's going to be a hot dry race.
Kimi's been down for so long, looks like 'up' for him!
Whatever his style is, I realised the gremlins could be round the corner somewhere. He'd better bite the bullet.
Noticed Hamilton's body language. Nervous ain't he.
How can so many men allow one man to rule. It's totally mind boggling. Slowly the existing Asian venues will loose it. Request that Sepang and China reveal the truth. Motoracing will always be the heart of the westerners. Better act quickly. 350kph will be sensational.
Super Aguri fried Fry. Simple as that. Nothing more to be said.
Looks like the economic crisis will create a big dent on F1. Overtaking is already tough as gaps from the fastest to the slowest cars are getting closer and closer. I sure hope F1 does not follow suite to GP2 and A1. Also F2 is in the process. We can only hope for the best.
I'm for the 'Make Cars Green' campaign, but visually this is AWFUL.
Now Mr. Ecclestone, you have stepped out of line here. Being a Singaporean I'm proud of the success in the Singapore GP, even though I do not like the track layout. But for you to remove the venues which has forged a major part of British, European and North American history in F1, that I'm AGHAST! How could you just throw that away, what about the passionate fans who were the hardcore supporters. Please REMEMBER without them there won't be you. The circuits are unique from each venue, truly. I'd love to be there if I can afford it, but even from the 'live' telecast I can feel the ambience and the joy from the fans but most of all the racing excitement. Don't bring the races to Asia just because of MONEY! How sad. I plead with you to reconsider your action else F1 will loose it all.
It's now Lewis this Lewis that. I wonder how long will this go on as the last world champion for Britain has been more than a decade. The power of the press can be detrimental. Please take note that F1 is a sport not 'pop' culture. It's more about teamwork and technology. I bet you Max is much more popular now. Get da drift.
F1 drivers related to world champions can be very stressful. It's better to start from below and climb to higher ranks. As for those whose fathers, uncles or whatever relationship they have, any wrong move will be only downward spiral. The press makes the most money from scandals and failures. Humans are strange as bad news are remembered more than good. There's a group of people who use a professional name (not necessary in F1) and earn it by meritocracy. It sure feels much better from self achievement.
Vettel does not speak much I noticed. He just races. No wonder they're hunting him down.
The Singapore MRT line runs across the Raffles City to Marina Bay underground. I think it is propelled by electricity if I'm not wrong.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL! This is the most expensive circus in the universe, for sure. The audience, the performers, the ring master and the clowns. They all come together. Keep it up.
One foot on the throttle the other on the brakes. With a little luck I'm very sure something will come out of it. Wish you all the best for the Japan GP.
BINGO!
At least you have been an F1 racer before and had quite a few podiums to your credit. Just ignore those criticisms. Look forward to your future commentary. All the best to you mate.
Only time will tell. From current articles there's a lack of raw talent in F1. Talent is a gift which no institution can develop. Fernando is not only a talented and fiery racer, his knowledge of setting up a race machine gives him a great advantage, that's why he is in high demand, only a handful of F1 drivers can do that. Pedro Martínez de la Rosa is one of them too. Honda offered Fernando a blank cheque, if I'm not wrong. A published news also mentioned Fernando was approached to be a test pilot for the Airbus370. That's impressive. But whatever, we must give the young a chance. Someday, somewhere a new star will be born.
I'm very sure there's truth to this incident. Electronics can be complicated. Sometimes technology causes problems that we don't know until it keeps repeating itself at the same point. There should be a solution to this. BMW had a problem with the KERS test when a mechanic had a nasty shock but they've found the cause and solved it. Hey guys/girls, don't run down Mark Webber like this. Give him a chance.
Hey Nico, don't say that. You're a very well spoken young man. Say you will fight till the end, that's what I like about the underdogs. They can spring surprises which makes F1 shine like Vettel in Monza. We need the oddballs once in a while not the same winner all the time which can be boring. Remember the 7 times world champion, it becomes too predictable. So hang on in there and FIGHT!
Mr.Lewis Hamilton. Your maturity has arrived. Welcome to the future of world champions. And you will earn what rightfully is yours. 3 more races and the world will know the truth. I wish you well and all the best. The heat is on! I like.
Tough one. Let's make it clear. As for the Teams - it can be beneficial for the mid-fielders as it does show in 'live timing' that they do occasionally top the timesheets for Fridays and Saturdays free practises. But if the jackpot thingy comes in, the drivers of the top teams will surely push for it. A million dollars is a million dollars! If I'm a racer I wouldn't mind the extra million in my pocket, wouldn't you? Now for the FANS - I'm a hardcore, so I observe 'live timing' for the whole season (wished I could be at all the venues, but that's only a dream). As 'nixtrix' mentioned "The 'true F1' fan will turn up to Friday session." So if F1 wants to fill the seats on Fridays & Saturdays, I'm sad to say they have to literally make it a gambling issue. Just follow the horse racing punting schemes. (1) Select the top driver, prize money will be average. (2) Select "Triple Trio" means spot the top 3 drivers in the right order, largest prize money. (3) Bet on "Quartet" means mark the top 4 drivers but not in order, second largest prize money. You know, they say "follow the money, follow the money", there's a lot of truth in this philosophy. SIGHHHHHH.
"Not all old things are bad" and "Not all new things are good".
My heartfelt sympathies to you Kimi. You're a much better racer than your results for this year. But you will always be the coolest sportsman. I'd rather you'd be labled a 'CoolGuy' than an 'IceMan'.
On my knees. DRY RACE PLEASE!!!
Isn't it exciting!!! Imagine F1 championships won by 0.25 points.
The worst rumour - Piquet was instructed to crash his car hence the safety car deployment which brought Alonso victory. If it's true Piquet should be a classic Hollywood stunt driver. We all have eyes don't we? As for qualifying, it stands at 15-0 so far.
Felipe, the tormented racer with so much criticisms should win the championship this year. He has shown so much improvement and consistency for 2008. His poor father was almost in tears at the Singapore GP. Hope to see you on the podium for the last three races. You have my best wishes. God bless.
The true meaning of "brotherhood". Massa is a good guy. It shows no one is perfect even at the top of your game.
A great decision from Malaysia and Bernie. Hey it's nice to have blue skies whenever we can, once in a while a wet race. Variations will enhanced F1 as we know that audiences are dwindling slowly in Europe that's why Bernie is in the hunt for new venues to bring back the hardcore fans. Put yourself in Bernie's shoe than you will know how difficult it is to please the fans. I hope we fans can contribute constructively instead of just criticising, it's easy just to write what you feel on your computers. Being on hands is a different ballgame. My thoughts are the venues in Asia can be real hot and humid but than again it will for sure reveal who are the fittest drivers. Shifting races to a later start is a good idea for both the teams and audiences, a 'win win' situation. One thing we can't control is the weather which will again bring some mystique to each race. Look at Alonso, Nico and Hamilton after the Singapore GP, they looked like they went through some warzone. C'mon let's all unite less we lose the essence which is "LET'S HAVE SOME GREAT FUN!"
Let's get technical and give some thoughts to night racing. Please remember that temperature is the most important aspect for the tyres in F1 racing. Supposing we have night races in Europe, already in summer the average TRACK temperature hovers around 16 to 25 degrees celcius (plus, minus), mind you that's in the day. In the night for sure, it will drop drastically and I can't imagine if it rains. That could spell disaster trying to heat up the tyres, that's really dangerous. You know, "Between the car and the road are the tyres". Now for the venue. Singapore GP is in the heart of the city with colonial and modern architecture and glitzy with lights. Did you watch the night race for MotorGP in Qatar, it wasn't spectecular at all from the air. If it was in Paris, Vegas or cities alike than maybe it's worth thinking about it. I can't imagine having a night race in Fuji, boy oh boy, rain and fog certainly won't be a good choice. We were lucky that it didn't rain in Singapore. Sepang and China are the only 2 venues which I can think of. So let's all not get overhyped as success can be followed by failure too.
Okay here we go, overall from the broadcast the view was truly spectacular. Like a great carved out video game. The 500 million or so viewers were thrilled, for sure. BUT being on the circuit for 3 days and 3 nights on a walkabout, I have many points to make. The views were not as good as there was no height to look down upon. Some of my friends who were on the grandstands did not really enjoy the race, why? - too many blocked views, as the cars came and stucked to the racing line they had to stand up. After surveying the circuit the only good view from ground level was at Turn 5. As for the rest it was just a very quick glimpse, certainly not enough to feel the thrill. As this is the first race, I can forgive. The organisers must not forget the live audiences. Let's give them a chance for next year, for I fear they will loose them as time goes by. Mind you, it's not cheap especially the grand stands. Remember the first time is always the greatest if you know what I mean.
It will really be great if Alonso stays with Renault. "IF YOU CAN'T BE WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE, LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH". Renault's improvement with every race speaks for itself. I term Alonso as "A SOULFUL RACER". The danger in trying to be part of Ferrari can backfire as it had with many racers in history. I'm sure Flavio will wants him to stay, and I'm sure Flavio will not retire if Alonso stays, for sure. Forget all the pram shit!. Let's talk about him being one if not the greatest F1 racer in this lifetime. Man it was truly amazing watching him go by with the car twitching and staying on track all the time. At turn 5 which was the widest turn you could really feel the vibe of a great racer. You know, I was about 10 feet away from the wall, which can be dangerous though, but what the heck, it was well worth the risk and the excitement. What a visual and audio experience! Please stay at Renault.
Congratulations to Fernando Alonso and Team Renault for the Singapore GP. One word to describe their victory "IMMACULATE!"
A comment made by Vijay Mallya that it rains every night in Singapore. Dear Mr. Mallya, I have lived in Singapore my entire life and I guar¿an¿tee you it does not rain every night if you don't mind!
I was at the circuit last night right in front of the chicane at turn 10. Wow! the humps looks real strange, like pieces of half capsules inserted into the track. I think it's dangerous as it's rather high. Should any car hit them, I'm very sure the damage will be substantial to put them out of the race. FIA needs to address this immediately or else those who hit it won't make it to the Anderson Bridge. As for the lights, no worries mate it's more than bright enough, if fact i find it a bit glary. Why? I was standing and it was rather bright, so i stood down roughly to the level of the drivers and it was even more glary. I hope I'm wrong here. About the rain, the South East Monsoon ends in September and the North West Monsoon begins in October so it could be the calm before the storm, as we've been having moderately strong winds in the early mornings (2am, give and take). Let's pray that the rain gods have mercy for the racers. Certainly a dry track would be favoured. May the Singapore GP be successful. Champaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaange!
di Montezemolo is right. The switch from traditional F1 circuits to street will better for economy and bringing awareness but will lower the standards of motor racing. Let's hope that it will bring in the profits for Singapore and will allow the government to build a proper world class F1 circuit. Sir Jackie Stewart did propose to Singapore government to widen the original Sembawang track in the 60s and stage the F1. According to Stewart we have a beautiful natural racing circuit which is an estate road next to a reservoir, which is still there now as is and reminds me of Spa. As for overtaking there's always some point in every race circuit, that's where racers play the biggest part of this brutal game. Wet races seems like the in thing for now.
Thank you so much Mr.Seb Vettel for making F1 sparkle again!
Hi all, first we must all be fair and not prejudice in our comments. Lewis is no doubt a world class racer. What he must learn as a young man is to earn his respect from others not self appraisal. So when he makes a mistake just admit it, it's okay, I'm sure we will all be more sympathetic. What he said about Kimi not having 'balls' was very disrespectful (Ferrari has been having problems for years in wet races, as we all know) . I'm sure when Vettel said 'we had the balls' for his Monza win, it was a hint to Lewis not to run down fellow F1 drivers. Even Fernando does not compare himself to the great champions (by the way, Fernando is my favourite and also my son's idol. I do bleed inside when doing Live Timing watching him juice every bit out of the R28). Lewis, do control what you say about your comrades, you have many years ahead of you so just be patient. So if you do become a world champ please be humble as least. Don't be like the British press! Even Fernando said Kimi had a run of bad luck in his career. My son said 'daddy, what if they transfered Lewis to Force India and Sutil to McLaren', he's only 8 years old. Count your blessings Lewis that you've been very lucky. One day your balls might role under the chassis. PEACE!
