Having just seen a replay of the Japan GP start, I have to ask: HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD DID LEWIS EXPECT TO TURN INTO THE FIRST CORNER BARRELLING TOWARDS IT AT FULL BORE ... IT WAS ONLY A MIRACLE (and prudent driving from the rest of the front-runners) THAT HE DIDN'T TAKE OUT HIMSELF AND A COUPLE OF OTHERS ... THAT WAS JUST PLAIN STUPID LEWIS.
This coming from Nick "Hasn't won a race in nearly 200 starts" Heidfeld? I never really had an opinion about him till this presumptuous spat. Hey Nick, win a couple races, then maybe you can have a shot at Lewis, eh? He is damn lucky Thiessen caved in and signed him before the Japanese GP. All he's doing is taking up space on that team.
Dezbo1960 stop being such a philestine and take it for what it is. The sight of Kimi beating him off the line was like a red rag to a bull and he lost his composure making a rash decision that ruined his whole race. Whilst it's nice to see that Lewis wants to attack, he needs to keep calm and focus on the bigger picture, not making a rookie karting mistake! If he doesn't learn from these mistakes then he'll always be the nearly man.
Nick is entirely justified to say what he did. Lewis should take the advice from a cool-headed, consistent and tenacious driver like Heidfeld. He could learn a few lessons from him.
As McClaren & Hamilton supporter I think he is right hamilton needs to learn a few things to be the best in the sport ever seen
shut up you plonker, if you learned half as quick as ham does then you would be in better position as you are now, go back to germany
well said DarkDefender, and good point texmex
It's strange how drivers criticise the manoeuvres of others yet often find themselves in a similar situation from time to time. Like when they all banged on about chicane cutting and imaginary walls etc. Heidfeld and Alonso were quite vocal about it yet both made up places (un-penalized) at Singapore. Massa also piped up and then drove through one of those imaginary walls straight into his main rival in japan. (I think he's been taking advice from Schuey again) I have to say it for Heidfeld though, he's a pretty straight up fair player on the whole. Let's just hope his comments don't come back to haunt him though.
Hamilton is a racing driver. Show him a gap and he will try and stick his McLaren in it. He didn't need to dive down the inside at turn one but there was an opening there and let's not forget Hamilton didn't hit anyone. Kovalainen touched one of the Ferrari's but LH pushed Kimi wide, just like Kimi pushed Lewis wide at Spa until he had to cut the chicane to avoid contact. It's funny how these odd decisions and erratic penalties come out when the season is coming to a close and points are at a premium. You can probably find "incidents" in every race, every season. As for penalising Bourdais and handing Massa more points, what a joke! If Massa could drive in the wet, he wouldn't need the points. I think they were waiting to see what sort of penalty would benefit Ferrari the most as there was plenty of time for Bourdais to serve his penalty during the race. I would like to see Lewis run down to the Ferrari garage after he wins the lot this year and offer the trophy to Massa; it's the only way he will ever get his hands on it but the stewards will probably find a way to give LH a starting grid penaly for next season.
you're right nick except you should have gone further & say hamilton should be banned for the rest of the season (at least) for these tactics. so to all you pro hamilton creeps-just listen to the the many F1 drivers (trulli, heidfield, alonso, kubica) who effectively are calling hamilton a cheat. i am sure the ferrari boys think the same but need to be diplomatic.
I have to agree with Heidfeld here: Hamilton should have been securing the title and not acting rash this past weekend, but once again he makes some silly mistake that could end up costing him the championship. Only time will tell if this stunt wont cost him.
Shannas, please, find a new comment or keep the same old one you spout comment section to yourself. Its getting on my T*&s. FFS, its been the same lame comment for the last 4 days!
Fair point from Heidfeld although i think he should be more worried by his own performances at the moment than commenting on Lewis. Im not the biggest Lewis fan but i finds it funny that pretty much nobody has come out and defended him. I thought Kubica was his friend, and Rosberg??
The reason Lewis wont come out and say anything about Heidfeld is because he's fighting a bigger battle. Very quickly he came out and slammed Massa and saying that he hit him deliberately and compromised his race. Lewis compromised Kimi's race too but we didnt see kimi coming out and slamming Lewis in the media.
heidfeld will be better trying to concentrate on his driving rather than critisizing lewis, after all its embarassing that kubica having far less race experience than heidfeld has virtually outqualified him in every race!!! its unbeleivable who the ones ready to point the finger are when you think about it!
nobody likes hammy... not because of jealousy, but because of the way he drives an the way he speaks at the press... he brought this on himself, why else would webber, kubica, heidfeld, and so on, so on continue to give this sort of opinions about him?
Well my point is that he's entitled to his opinion and can voice it as he pleases. Last year Hamilton did a similar thing, saying he was held up "by the monkeys at the back" which while perfectly within his rights to voice his opinion, that definitely lost him my respect (not that he has any reason to care about that). Regardless of their current performance, drivers have a right to voice their opinion, they just need to be prepared to handle the inevitable fallout. And the reason I don't like him is nothing to do with hate or jealousy, which is fitting as I'm neither part of the Ferrari or Alonso brigade (although I do respect them). People's opinions are formed based on more than that.
I don't understand why the people that aren't challenging for the title, who barely even knew if they would be confirmed with their team for the next season, feel the need to sit up and pass judgmental remarks. Heidfeld could also be blamed for not bringing enough points for BMW, why doesn't he comment on that. Quite honestly, I don't care about who anyone supports, one thing that's visible is that everyone has suddenly decided to gang up against Lewis Hamilton. It's a thought, maybe they're doing all this because they haven't been able to provide even half the results that he has. Maybe they are starting to realize that this kid has something more and he's still so young and would pose a serious threat if he keeps improving, so the best thing to do is to try and cut him down in his prime. If anyone that knows Lewis is reading this, please ask him to just ignore such ridiculous remarks by people that are nowhere even close to his league and just keep his heart and mind on the goal. He's still very raw, no shame in admitting that, but even being this raw he's proven to be better than the rest. Just imagine how good he'd be if he keeps improving ... . And by the way, he's in McLaren not by luck, it's because he has the ability to bring the team into contention for both championships, that's why.
Fair point DarkDefender. Tho there a difference in commenting to the press and commenting on a website forum. Although Hamilton would be perfectly entitled to, I doubt you'll hear him coming out and saying heidfeld really should be doing a lot better than he is. If he did there would be an absolute flame war going on about how arrogant he is yadda yadda. i just think the boy gets a bit of a rough ride which is mainly driven by hate/jealousy from the pro alonso/ferrari brigade
At this date, all comments from other Drivers, as Kubica, Heidfeld, Trulli, etc, are against Hamilton way to drive, is tha means something?, those drivers are wrong, and Mr Macho right (regarding "balls" comment)?
well said DarkDefender
Truth is truth Be it from anyone
Trut is truth Be it from anyone
Actually by your logic IrishAnders, you can't comment on Heidfeld's ability. Unless of course YOU can get a BMW out of Q3 and beat Kubica on a regular basis? There's no reason to be so dismissive of other drivers. He said nothing about Hamilton's ability, he just said that Hamilton was a bit too rash going into turn one and he didn't need to be. Would you prefer it if all drivers except Hamilton kept their opinions to themselves?
Bloody Ferrari driver :)
Ban for Lewis to Drive in Shanghai and Brazil
i dont think someone who can't get a BMW out of Q3 and gets utterly b1tched by his team mate on a regular basis can really comment on Hamilton's ability...

I am one of Hamiston's biggest fans. The worst we can do is to shoot the messenger. The facts are there for all to see. Heidfeld is absolutely right. Infact, Lewis owes his lead in the driver's chamopinship to the fact that the other drivers have been equally inconsitant. Had this been last year, Lewis would be out of the championship already. Massa dropped out of the championship fight last season after the Japanese race. He had 84 points at that stage if I remember correctly (23 points behind Hamilton). Come on Lewis, you are better than that. Go get it!!!!!!!!!
