Naturally the current points system is off the mark, because Ferrari are now losing.
I'd say hold it there. Why is everyone repeating that it is game over for Ferrari just because the screwed up in Singapore? Do the maths, it is only 7 points points difference in the Drivers Championship and only a single point in the Constructor's and we have 3 races remaining. Sure Hamilton could win the Championship without winning another race, and that is providing he finishes one place behind Massa in the 3 remaining races. But we all know that won't occur. He could finish ahead of Massa or he can also have one DNF or two. Everything is possible. Don't count out Ferrari just yet. It is not over until it is over. Just look what happened last year.
I certainly agree that the current points allocation is totally of the mark. 1: 15 2: 10 3: 7 4: 5 5: 4 6: 3 7: 2 8: 1 ... would encourage overtaking and actually racing for first place.
Read his comments fully Medhatter before opening your mouth! He said it's a good position for Lewis to be in and it IS! And he also said 1 DNF for Lewis and it's game back on, also true. So what he said is about right. I think your opinions fall into the not worth anything category though mate....
1ST PLACE SHOULD BE WORTH MORE POINTS AND MAYBE FASTS LAPS.
I have been driving race cars for many years and my view of the pit stops is I would never leave the pits until I saw the fuel hose pulled in my right hand mirror as the consequences of a mistake are too high and the cost in time so little. Massa should be able to watch for the green light on the right at the same time watch the right hand mirror for the hose to be pulled. Not blaming Massa but that would be my policy!
Totally agree with leeph, title is the summary of the whole season, not just Singapure or any other single race
No, Massa's performances throughout the season will cost him the title. The injustice of Spa has been set right with Massa's botched pitstop, so things are now as they were before when Lewis should have been 8 points ahead after Belgium.
One pit stop does not make or lose a championship. It doesn't matter how the driver is told to go, whether a light or a popsicle, when the signal is given they go. Good on Ferrari not naming the crewman who flipped the light. It will NOT be just HIS fault if the title is lost. Massa himself made the best statement. "You made a mistake, I make mistakes. We are only human. Each one of us always tries to do our best and these things can happen,"
He had a 7 point lead into the *final race* last year and lost, these opinions just aren't really worth anything
