EJ: Lewis can win with Merc

Eddie Jordan is confident Lewis Hamilton can do for Mercedes what Michael Schumacher did for Ferrari more than a decade ago.

After months of rumours Hamilton's future was finally confirmed when Mercedes announced that the Brit would replace Schumacher next season.

The decision has been questioned by some given the difference in pedigree between McLaren and Mercedes, the former of which has 12 Drivers' titles.

Jordan, though, is confident Hamilton can find the winning recipe with Mercedes.

"I was a little bit surprised Hamilton's move happened so quickly in the end as there was a lot of posturing at Singapore," the BBC Sport chief analyst said.

"Decisions like this don't happen in days though, so people actually knew about it in Monza."

And although some may be questioning the wisdom in Hamilton's swap, Jordan reckons he could do for Mercedes what Schumacher once did for Ferrari.

He added: "I don't see why he cannot win the World title with Mercedes. Michael Schumacher transformed Ferrari when it was lacklustre."
