Alguersuari: Best Toro Rosso of my life

Alguersuari: Best Toro Rosso of my life

Jaime Alguersuari is singing the praises of his Toro Rosso team, saying he felt like he was "driving a Ferrari, a McLaren or a Red Bull" in Korea.

The Spaniard, who has yet to secure his race-seat for next year's Championship, raced from 11th on the grid to seventh at the Yeongam circuit on Sunday.

He finished behind only the drivers from F1's top three outfits after overtaking Mercedes GP's Nico Rosberg on the final lap.

"It is the first time in the whole season that I'm really happy, proud and satisfied with my work, but above all with the whole Toro Rosso team and with my car," Alguersuari said.

"I'm young, I'm 21 years old, but I'm not stupid. In F1, the cars make the difference between the drivers. We all dream to have the best car, we all want to have (Sebastian) Vettel's car, but finally we have to drive the car we got.

"I can say with pride that I had the best Toro Rosso of my life. I want to say that Toro Rosso has made me great.

"In some moments of the race, I felt like I was driving a Ferrari, a McLaren or a Red Bull."

He added: "Definitely, not only my car has been exceptional, in all senses, the top speed, the grip and the conservation of the tyres, but also the strategy of the team deciding to go out into the track with soft tyres, and taking advantage of the safety car to change tyres, has been impeccable."

Alguersuari is now hoping his "golden" points not only lead to a flying finish to the campaign for himself and Toro Rosso but also a 2012 race-seat with the team that he believes is on the up and up.

"I have grasped six golden points for the team, and for myself, but the best is yet to come. I'm almost certain that Toro Rosso has found certain things that well used are excellent and, in the India, Abu Dhabi and Brazil GPs, we will do even better.

"For the moment, in Korea, Toro Rosso has made me great and I think we've taken a huge leap. I am very excited because, next year, we can have a great car."
