'Alguersuari turned down HRT role'

Jaime Alguersuari has reportedly said 'no' to the opportunity to join HRT as he reckons it was would be a "step backwards."

The Spaniard was left without a Formula One race-seat after being dropped by Toro Rosso in a move that shocked many in the F1 community, including the driver himself.

Alguersuari's axing immediately sparked rumours that HRT, a Spanish outfit, could be his next destination as he bids to remain in the sport.

However, according to Spanish daily AS, Alguersuari has "definitely" ruled out HRT as it is "considered a step backwards in his career."

Alguersuari is instead looking to become a third driver with one of the top teams with McLaren-Mercedes named in the article.
