Heikki: Pastor should be penalised

Heikki Kovalainen says Pastor Maldonado should "pay" for blocking the Caterham driver during qualifying for the Chinese GP.

Kovalainen was on a hot lap in Q1 when he came up behind Maldonado, who was on an out-lap and weaving all over the back straight.

The Williams driver failed to move over for the Finn, costing Kovalainen valuable time.

"He (Maldonado) is under investigation," the Caterham driver told Autosport. "I was the good, he was the bad.

"He was getting ready for first timed lap, I believe, and I was on my first fast lap.

"He was weaving on the back straight and I was getting very close to him, so obviously he had no intention of letting me by. By the last corner I was right up his bum.

"It didn't cost us much time because I was able to do another lap later on, but in any case he made a mistake and I think he'll probably have to pay for it."

Kovalainen qualified P19 for Sunday's race while Maldonado is starting 13th after only getting a reprimand from the stewards.
