Nielsen to leave Caterham

Caterham sporting director Steve Nielsen will leave the team next month.

Nielsen only joined the Leafield outfit at the end of 2011, having previously worked for among others Tyrrell and Renault where he worked alongside now Caterham chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne.

"Caterham F1 Team has today confirmed that Steve Nielsen is leaving his post of Sporting Director in January," a team spokesperson told GPUpdate.net.

"The team is currently assessing the best options for his replacement and will make an announcement in due course."

It is not known whether Nielsen will be exiting the F1 arena completely or joining another team.
