Sauber is no rush to replace Perez

Sauber are in no hurry to replace Sergio Perez amidst rumours Jaime Alguersuari and Heikki Kovalainen are topping the list of candidates.

Perez became a target for the big teams this season when he raced his Sauber to three podium finishes, putting team-mate Kamui Kobayashi in the shade.

With six races remaining the Mexican racer has already bagged 66 points, 31 more than his Japanese counterpart.

However, Perez's days at Sauber are now numbered with confirmation that he's off to McLaren next season to replace Lewis Hamilton.

But who will replace him at Sauber is not yet known.

According to the rumour mill Sauber's choice is between three drivers, Caterham's Kovalainen, former Toro Rosso driver Alguersuari and Sauber's own test driver Esteban Gutiérrez.

The team, though, is no rush to make an announcement.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Sauber said: "After two years @SChecoPerez will change to McLaren next season.

"We will announce our driver line-up for 2012 in due course."
