There will be only 19 races during the 2013 Formula One season with the FIA confirming the vacant date would not be filled.

After initially announcing 20 races for this year, the FIA was forced to scrap the New Jersey Grand Prix as the venue won't be ready to host its inaugural race this season.

World motor sport's governing body, though, was hopeful of filling the spot with Turkey, which was dropped in 2012 following a disagreement over fees, suggested as a possible venue with Austria and Portugal also interested.

However, it was confirmed during a World Motor Sport Council meeting that the July 21 date will not be filled, leaving a three-week gap between the German and Hungarian Grands Prix.
