Di Resta would 'jump' at Ferrari chance

Paul Di Resta has confessed he would dearly love to secure a drive with Ferrari, should the opportunity present itself.

The 26-year-old Scot has done his reputation no harm so far this season, securing points in seven of the eight grands prix so far, often from tough grid positions.

And while Red Bull appear to have overlooked him as a replacement for Mark Webber, a spot at Ferrari might also open up in the near future considering Felipe Massa's poor recent form, which has led to four crashes in the last three grands prix.

Should Ferrari decide to look elsewhere next year, De Resta hopes he will at least be in the picture, and having some Italian roots (his grandfather emigrated to Scotland from Naples in the 1950s) certainly doesn't hurt.

"You would jump at it, definitely," said Di Resta.

"Obviously it's every boy's dream as they grow up to get in a Ferrari at some point in their life, and being Italian is a nice thing, having the Italian blood.

"But I will concentrate on my job and let other people do their job.

"Where I am next year I don't know, but there are many points up for grabs. That is the important bit - keeping your reputation high."

Di Resta currently lies eighth in the drivers' standings with 36 points, and is doing all he can to grab the attention of the top teams.

While he admits to being disappointed at not being in the picture to replace Webber at Red Bull, he added: "There's nothing I can do. It is what it is.

"I'm only trying to do what I can do. I've built my reputation in Formula One. I want to be in a winning seat, but it's down to the decision of the boards of other teams.

"I've still a lot of races with Force India this year so I'll keep concentrating on that and let other people do the work in the background."
