Wolff admits 2015 seat 'not realistic'

Susie Wolff concedes she is unlikely to get a race-seat at Williams next season given the form of the team's current drivers.

After an aborted grand prix last time out at Silverstone, the Williams development drivers finally had the opportunity to showcase her talent on the big stage at Hockenheim on Friday.

Putting in the laps in first practice for the German GP, Wolff covered 22 laps with a best time of 1:20.769, which was just 0.227 seconds slower than Felipe Massa.

It was a good showing and one Wolff has billed as a "massive step forward" for her career.

She told BBC Sport: "I feel ready but it is a tough environment and getting the chance is not going to be easy.

"But for me this was a massive step forward on my journey."

However, the 31-year-old admits racing for Williams in 2015 is an unlikely prospect.

"I'm very realistic and Valtteri and Felipe are doing a fantastic job, let's be honest," she said.

"I rate both very highly. So am I going to get a seat here? No.

"But all I can do is stay here, take every opportunity that comes my way, keep doing a good job and you never know.

"Sometimes a chance comes and the most important thing is I'm ready but a full race seat here next year is something that's not realistic."
