Kimi aims to 'get it right' in qualy

Kimi Raikkonen is chasing an improved showing in qualifying for the Indian Grand Prix after conceding that his last few Saturdays were not perfect.

The Lotus driver failed to make it onto the front three rows of the grid in the last five races.

With a P8 being his best showing on a Saturday since Hungary, Raikkonen has been made it work for it in Sunday's races.

But despite that, the Finn still managed to achieve two podium results during that time.

Next weekend in India, though, he is intent on making life a bit easier for himself.

"Hopefully we finally get it right in qualifying as the last five qualifying sessions have not been that great for me," he said.

"If we don't, it's going to be a difficult Sunday afternoon, although of course we'll keep pushing. If we do get it right, then we can really go for it!"

Raikkonen is also confident that in his E21 he has a car capable of challenging at the front, conceding that although he didn't do that last time out in Japan, it was because of his qualifying pace and not his race pace.

"The car felt pretty strong all weekend and we've made good progress with it recently. It's still not exactly as I want it and we're trying to get rid of some understeer which is something I don't like.

"In Japan it was hard to show our real pace at the beginning of the race as I was stuck behind slower cars for quite a long time. After the final pit stop when I got a bit of free air the car was working much better

"It ran well in the last half of the race and I was very happy with it."
