Bernie 'confident' of India's return

India could return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2015 after Bernie Ecclestone stated he's "confident" that all financial issues could be resolved.

India made its F1 debut in 2011 but after just three grands prix at the Buddh International Circuit was dropped from the calendar.

Finances and India's ridig tax laws were largely blamed although race organisers said it was down to a rejigging of the calendar.

Whatever the reason, Ecclestone believes India could return next season, he just needs the Jaypee officials to "sort out" a deal.

"It is all very clear. They just need to come here (London) and sort out the existing contract," the 83-year-old told the Deccan Herald.

"Though the race promoters have not said when they will come over, we are constantly talking and they look very eager to get the race back.

"I am also confident that all financial issues will be sorted out and India will be back on the calendar.

"As I have said in the past, India is an important market for Formula One. I really want to see the race return."
