Perez, Gutierrez welcome Mexican GP

Sergio Perez and Esteban Gutierrez have applauded the news that Mexico will return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2015.

23 years after Nigel Mansell won the last Mexican Grand Prix, the country will host a grand prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.

The news has been welcomed by Force India's Perez, the fifth Mexican driver to find a place on the Formula 1 grid.

"I am most proud to be a Mexican," he wrote on his website.

"The return of F1 to our country is a sign that the Mexican state can achieve anything.

"It is a great opportunity to show the world what Mexico is and what we are capable of achieving.

"We're big and when we have the same tools as our competitors, we are the best in the world."

Meanwhile, Sauber's Gutierrez took to Twitter to express his joy.

"What an incredible story!" he tweeted. "We have a Mexico Grand Prix! Special thanks to everyone who made this dream a reality!"
