Force India will need some luck here and there if they are to catch Renault in the Constructors' Championship, according to Paul di Resta.
Renault are fifth in standings with 70 points, but they have struggled in recent races while Force India have been in excellent form. The Silverstone squad's double points finish in Singapore has seen them reduce the gap to just 22 points and with only five grands prix left this season it is likely to go down to the wire.
Di Resta, though, knows Renault are still in the driving seat as they have the points on the board.
"It's definitely achievable, but I think it will be a big ask unless we get quite a bit of luck along the way," the Scot said.
"The key will be getting both cars in the points, but we've also seen that Renault look stronger on certain tracks. So we're aiming at catching them but well aware they still have quite a points advantage."
The team head to Japan high on confidence on the back of their success in Singapore a fortnight ago.
"I'm feeling very positive. Things have really come together quite well in the middle part of the year and I think we've delivered as a team," Di Resta said.
"In Singapore the upgrade package worked as we expected and contributed to the end result. That's a big credit to the team and we've all worked very hard to achieve these recent results."
Di Resta's team-mate Adrian Sutil is equally upbeat about their chances at Suzuka.
"Last year we were strong at the beginning of the season and by the time we got to Suzuka it was not so easy for us," the German said.
"Based on the performance we have shown in the last four races, I think we can go to Japan thinking of scoring more points."
