Di Resta: Nothing I could do

Di Resta: Nothing I could do

Paul di Resta says there was nothing he could do to prevent his retirement at his home race, the British GP.

Starting tenth on the grid the Scot had hoped for a good showing in front of his home crowd. But it was not to be.

Di Resta was involved in the first lap argy-bargy, which resulted in contact with Romain Grosjean and a puncture.

The Force India driver headed into the pits for new rubber but along the way his car suffered suspension damage which meant even though he tried to rejoin, he was forced to call it quits two laps later.

"I am not really too sure what happened. I turned into Turn Four and suddenly there was no pressure (in the tyres)," he told journalists at the track.

"It is unfortunate but nothing you can do.

"Then on the way back to the pits the floor was damaged and there was definitely no way we were going to continue after that.

"It has not been a great weekend. We took a bit of a gamble and conditions could not have been better for us."
