Ricciardo joins the penalty list

Daniel Ricciardo is the latest driver to receive a penalty for this weekend's Indian GP after HRT were forced to change his gearbox.

The Australian will start Sunday's 60-lap grand prix five places back from his qualifying position as he ran into gearbox trouble in Saturday's final practice.

HRT were forced to change Ricciardo's gearbox, earning him a mandatory five grid-slot penalty. However, his average qualifying position is P23, which means he will most likely just drop to the back of the grid.

Ricciardo is the fourth driver to be hit with a penalty in India.

The first was Vitaly Petrov, who will drop five places after crashing into Michael Schumacher in Korea, while Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez have both been penalised three places for ignoring yellow flags in FP1.
