Jean-Eric Vergne has praised Toro Rosso for being a "good school", but insists he still has "a lot to show in F1".

The Frenchman is currently without a race seat for the 2015 season after Toro Rosso confirmed that teenager Max Verstappen will partner 20-year-old Daniil Kvyat next year.

Vergne has been with the Faenza-based squad since 2011 when he was made reserve driver before being promoted to the grid the following year, but his future is unclear following the team announcement on Monday.

The 24-year-old took to Twitter to thank the team and also vowed not to give up.

"Toro Rosso is a good school. I learnt a lot. Now focussed on a great end of season. I'm already working for 2015. Still a lot to show in F1," he wrote.

Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost also spoke highly of Vergne and believes he deserves another shot in F1 after a difficult campaign so far this year that saw him retire in five of the 11 races.

"I would also like to thank Jean-Eric Vergne for all his hard work," Tost told the official Toro Rosso website. "He has produced strong performances, but unfortunately he was also hindered by some reliability problems, especially in the first half of the current season.

"We hope that we have resolved these problems and that he will be able to end the second half of this season on a high note and thereby show that he still deserves another opportunity in Formula 1."
