Bernie: Bahrain GP is still on

Bernie Ecclestone has reiterated his stance of the Bahrain Grand Prix, saying he is "100 per cent sure" the race will take place.

Human rights organisations and British peers have called on the Formula One community not to go to Bahrain this year due to the ongoing civil unrest in the Gulf kingdom.

However, organisers are pushing full steam ahead with preparations and tickets for the event, which is set to take place on April 22, went on sale earlier this week.

F1 commercial rights holder Ecclestone is also confident that the race take place without any problems.

Asked if there were any concerns, Ecclestone said: "Not at all.

"Nobody is saying we're not going or we don't want to go or anything. Everybody is quite positive.

"I've told all the teams there's no problem at all. I'm absolutely 100% sure we'll go there and there will be no problem."

Ecclestone, however, does believe local authorities will take extra precautions when it comes to security for the F1 race.

"I am sure that the people there will make sure just in case there's a problem. I am sure there will not be a problem," he added.
