Grosjean: Perfect until it wasn't

Romain Grosjean believes he could have claimed the European GP victory had it not been for his car's failure on lap 43.

Grosjean was running in second place when the Safety Car came out on lap 31 and was quickly overtaken by Fernando Alonso on the restart.

The second place they were fighting over became first moments later when Sebastian Vettel parked his stricken RB8 on the side of the track.

Now fighting for the lead, Grosjean harried Alonso with the gap just 0.6s before the Frenchman's Lotus E20 gave up on him.

"The car stopped, the engine stopped and I think it was because we had an alternator problem," he told the BBC.

"The race was going perfect, we had a good start and it was a good performance.

"I thought I would get my first win because we were looking quicker than Ferrari.

"I am disappointed I didn't get the chance to overtake."
