Bottas: Step nose has been straightened

Valtteri Bottas has confirmed that this year's Williams will be visibly different to last year's as the step nose has been scrapped.

Making the step up from test driver to race driver this season, the Finn is eagerly awaiting his grand prix debut.

However, before that happens in Australia in March, Bottas first has to get through the pre-season with Williams reportedly set to unveil their new challenger on the first day of testing in Jerez on 5 February.

In a recent interview with Finland's MTV3, the 23-year-old revealed a bit about the new car, the FW35, confirming that Williams had done away with last year's ugly step nose.

"The new rules, though, mean the step nose has been straightened," he said. "That is the biggest different in appearance.

"The new car is a development version of last year's.

"There are certain improvements in aerodynamics. We have tried to focus on getting more traction in corners."

It is not just Williams, though, who are making changes ahead of this season, Pirelli have a few of their own including softer rubber.

This move, Bottas says, could see an end to one-stop grands prix.

"Last year we went to some races with only one pit stop but I believe we will see very little of that this year," he added.
