Bernie Ecclestone has ruled out adding a 20th venue to this year's calendar, saying it is too late in the day.
Ecclestone had hoped to run 20 grands prix this season as he sought a new venue to take the place of New Jersey.
But less than two months before the start of the new season, the F1 surpremo has conceded that it is impossible to add another race "at this late stage."
"Disappointed it didn't happen before but you can't suddenly slot it in," he said.
The 82-year-old also weighed in on the Bahrain GP which went ahead last season despite concerns over the political unrest in the kingdom.
"I haven't seen the kind of troubles we experienced at this time last year," Ecclestone said, adding that he is "100 percent" confident the grand prix will go ahead as scheduled.
