Webber sticking with Red Bull

Webber sticking with Red Bull

Mark Webber's father insists the Australian won't quit Red Bull following the controversial Malaysian Grand Prix.

The 36-year-old appeared to be on course for victory at Sepang after his team told him to switch his engine off and assured him his team-mate Sebastian Vettel won't attack.

However, Vettel ignored team orders and went on to take the chequered flag after overtaking the Australian during the latter stages of the race.

Although the German apologised after the race, Webber was unhappy and admitted he needs time to think things through.

"Let's just say there were a lot of things going through my mind in the last 15 laps of the grand prix, lots of different reasons, not just from today but also from the past," he said.

"We'll see what happens. We've got three weeks before the next race. Right now it's very early days, it's very raw, but we need to work out how the team best goes forwards from here."

There were suggestions that he would consider his future at Red Bull, but his father Alan insists he will be on the grid for the Milton Keynes squad come the Chinese Grand Prix on April 14.

"We'll be up in China for the next one," Alan Webber told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

He added: "I think it will take a while [for Vettel] to earn the respect and trust again,"

Vettel has copped a lot of flak in the wake of Sunday's race and Webber senior says the triple World Champion didn't do himself any favours with is behaviour.

"Sebastian disobeyed team orders and most, if not all the team, are disappointed with him," he said.

"Up and down pit lane Mark has not lost any credibility at all. It's probably Sebastian who has lost an awful lot."

Team principal Christian Horner is also confident that Webber will be staying with the team.

"The team's position was clear," Horner said. "Mark knows the team didn't manipulate anything, there was no conspiracy, so why he needs to be thinking about his future is just pure emotion."
