Felipe Massa concedes that he's not quite sure why his race failed to develop after getting off to a fast start.
The Brazilian has enjoyed a strong start to the season and managed to get the run on Kimi Raikkonen off the start line. Massa stayed out on the soft tyres one lap longer than team-mate Fernando Alonso and paid the price as he fell back in the first round of pitstops.
However, while Alonso continued to get stronger after swapping to the medium tyres, Massa found himself stuck out of reach of the leading racers.
The Ferrari driver eventually came home in sixth, 40 seconds behind race-winner Alonso and he admits his race pace was a bit puzzling.
"It's difficult to understand exactly what happened today, because the start went very well," he explained.
"I was immediately quick and the car was working perfectly.
"At the first stop, I fitted the medium tyres and after a few laps I began to suffer with graining on the front.
"That meant I lost ground to other cars and it was probably down to a problem linked to the track conditions and my driving style.
"All weekend, I haven't felt comfortable with these tyres and in the race, any attempts I made to save them was useless."
