Lowe to return to the paddock - report

New Mercedes recruit Paddy Lowe will return to the Formula One paddock at the British Grand Prix, according to a report.

Lowe quit as McLaren technical director earlier this year to take up the position of executive director (technical) at Mercedes.

He was initially expected to remain on gardening leave until the end of the season, but McLaren agreed to release him early, which paved the way for him to start working at Brackley on June 3.

Autosport reports that Lowe will make his first appearance for Mercedes in the paddock at Silverstone this weekend.

Although he has been given the title of executive director (technical), team principal Ross Brawn has admitted that they still have to define Lowe's role, saying they still have "to find the best way of using Paddy immediately".

While his immediate future is unclear, Autosport adds that "Lowe is expected to eventually move in to a team principal role when Brawn eventually decides to retire".
