Jenson Button and Sergio Perez will both miss this week's Young Driver Test with McLaren opting to use non-race drivers.
Lotus' Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Hulkenberg from Sauber and Williams' Pastor Maldonado will sample the new Pirelli tyres following the FIA's decision to open up the test to experienced races.
However, McLaren have decided against using Button and Perez for the Silverstone test and they will use a different driver on each of day.
Kevin Magnussen will take part on Wednesday, Oliver Turvey will take over on Thursday and Gary Paffett will be behind the wheel on the final day.
McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh has admitted that their main focus this week will be to get to the bottom of the problems with the MP4-28.
"The Silverstone young driver test will be an extremely useful opportunity for us to conduct further investigative work into the effects of aerodynamic and mechanical changes to the car," he is quoted as saying by Autosport.
"Just as importantly, it'll be a proper opportunity for our test and development drivers to further develop their knowledge and understanding of modern Formula 1 machinery, while simultaneously allowing them to help us refine the correlation between the track and the simulator."
