Pirelli announce compound choices

Pirelli have confirmed that the hard and medium compounds will used at the Belgian and Italian GPs while they will go softer for the Singapore GP.

In keeping with last year's choices, the drivers will race Pirelli's two hardest compounds at Spa and Monza to keep up the high-speed nature of the two tracks.

Singapore, though, is a different track entirely as it is the final street circuit on the calendar with Pirelli opting for the medium and super-soft compounds.

"The second half of the season starts off with two of the fastest and most demanding races for tyres of the year, in Belgium and Italy," Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery said.

"Singapore is a completely different challenge: the final street race of the season, which is ideal territory for the supersoft tyres.

"As always, our selections have concentrated on providing the best opportunities for strategy as well as the most effective race tyres."
