Track designer Hermann Tilke is confident that the Russian GP will take place next season despite missing the deadline to apply for a place on the calendar.
Work is continue at the Sochi International Street Circuit, which has been designed by Tilke.
However, behind the scenes there were concerns last week when it emerged that the Russian Automobile Federation has missed the deadline to apply for a place on next year's calendar.
The grand prix, though, could be granted an exception with Tilke adamant it will take place.
"I'm 100 percent sure that the track will be ready [and the race will be held on October 19, 2014]," he told championat.com.
"Everything in my area of responsibility will be fulfilled. The track will be constructed on time. Everything will be okay."
Asked about the issues between promoter JSC Omega and the RAF, Tilke said: "I do not know much about this. We are engaged in the construction of the track. I am not familiar with the situation in detail."
