Alonso: Media tries to create tension

Fernando Alonso has accused the media of trying to "create some tension" between himself and Ferrari.

In the wake of Saturday's qualifying, which Alonso finished with the fifth fastest time, the Spaniard came in for some stick after appearing to criticise his team.

While the Spaniard was heard yelling over the radio "Massa is too far away" after the team's efforts to slipstream the drivers were undone, he then in a later message said of his team "you're really geniuses."

However, one publication, Gazzetta dello Sport, claims he actually went on to call his team "idiots."

The double World Champ, though, was quick to defend himself saying his message was "misunderstood" before adding that "they didn't put out the last radio message, when I said thank you to Felipe and thank you to the team, and that it was perfect in the end."

A day later Alonso was back on the Italian Grand Prix having brought his F138 home in second place, once again losing out to title rival Sebastian Vettel.

And as to be expected he was again questioned about Saturday's issues and if he felt better after the tifosi's celebratory reaction to his podium finish.

"It's the third or fourth consecutive race that some people have tried to create some tension between the team and the drivers," said the 32-year-old.

"Then we come to the press conference, we explain everything but obviously this doesn't sell so many newspapers - normality.

"Every time I leave an airport, the hotel, home, everywhere - here in Italy there's huge support, huge love from them and me to them as well and to the team and we keep repeating this and we saw on the podium maybe not many of them read the newspapers in the morning, luckily."
