Massa 'negotiating' with Lotus

Felipe Massa has revealed that he is in talks with Lotus about replacing Kimi Raikkonen while he has also had "contact" with McLaren.

Last Tuesday, Massa revealed via Twitter that he would be leaving Ferrari at the end of this season, his eighth year with the Scuderia.

A day later Ferrari confirmed that Kimi Raikkonen would be taking Massa's race-seat.

The move could yet turn into a straight swap as Massa has revealed that he is in talks with Lotus for next season.

"We are negotiating," he told Globo Esporte.

"In my opinion the Lotus has a very competitive car, which is what I want. It is a team with a very important story in Brazil as well.

"We are having many conversations to try find a way for not only me but also Lotus to continue with a good car."

But Lotus are not the only team the 11-time grand prix winner has spoken to as there has also been "contact" with McLaren.

"I have had contact with McLaren. I can't judge... it's hard to say... with Lotus the contact has been very good."

Almost a week after the announcement, Massa is starting to get used to the thought of life without Ferrari and insists hes "not ending" his career.

"I'm much more loose, more free," he said. "I think this might be good for me.

"Of course I want a competitive car. It's not impossible. It's a change and I hope one for the better."
