Things look 'rosy' for Di Resta

He hasn't seen the chequered flag in four consecutive races, but Paul di Resta remains optimistic about Force India's chances in last seven grands prix of the season.

Having started P17 on the grid in Singapore, the Scot moved through the traffic and found himself fighting for a possible top 10 finish when he crashed into the barriers at Turn 7 with a few laps to go.

Di Resta insisted after the race that a problem with his VJM06 was to blame for his accident, but he feels there were plenty of positives to take out of the race.

"When you start P17 - and the car was not strong enough or good enough to progress further in qualifying - it was then very strong in the race," he told Press Association Sport.

"The race pace came to us. We had good tyres, good tyre life, and that was the difference.

"I was able to get through, which allowed me some free track and it allowed us to be flexible (with strategy).

"When you are having a season like we're having at the moment, to miss out on points - and it probably would have been a sixth - it's a big hit for the team.

"Now we need to get ourselves together and bounce back from it."

Force India were one of the form teams at the start of the year, but they went slightly off the boil when Pirelli decided to reconstruct their tyres following some blowouts at the British GP.

Although the team have struggled since Silverstone, Di Resta insists the tyres are no longer to blame for their woes.

"We can't really blame them any more," he added.

"We've had enough time to reference them and get as much as we can out of them.

"It's clear we are not switching them on, but that's just the way this car works. Everybody has had the same opportunity and they've managed to do it.

"We'll try and unleash some more potential because other people have found the key to making them work, as we did with the other tyres at the beginning of the year.

"We can do it and if we can get our race performance like that on Sunday a few times in the remaining races then we are looking very rosy in some of them."
