New Jersey is down to host a grand prix next season after the street race was included on the provisional 2014 calendar.
On Friday, the World Motor Sport Council confirmed the 2014 schedule which consists of a massive 22-grands prix.
There are debuts for New Jersey and Russia while Mexico and Austria will be returning to the calendar.
However, New Jersey along with Mexico and Korea are only provisional subject to circuit receiving approval.
New Jersey promoter Leo Hindery Jr has welcomed the news after months of doubts and speculation about the street race's future.
"The entire Grand Prix of America team is thrilled to join the 2014 FIA calendar and we look forward to bringing world-class Formula One racing to New Jersey," he said.
New Jersey also finds itself in the middle of a triple-header which will see Formula One stop off in Monaco before heading to America and then onto Canada in the space of three grueling weeks.
