Lotus sorry for colourful language

Lotus have apologised for using some colourful language during a radio exchange with Kimi Raikkonen during the Indian Grand Prix.

Raikkonen and team-mate Romain Grosjean were battling over third place in the latter stages of Sunday's race and trackside operations director Alan Permane told the Finn to "move out of the ****ing way".

The reply from Raikkonen also included the "****ing" word, but he eventually allowed the Frenchman through.

Team principal Eric Boullier admits they went too far, promising it won't happen again.

"Romain was two seconds per lap faster than Kimi at that time, so it was not even a team order," Boullier told the team's official website.

"With hindsight, this radio message could have been sent in a less emotional way. There was a lot of tension, a lot of potential technical problems, and some of the words that flew around were simply not appropriate," added the Frenchman.

"I know that quite a few people were surprised and I can only apologise for that on behalf of the team. It won't happen again."
