McLaren, Force India to skip tyre test

McLaren and Force India won't take part in next week's Pirelli tyre test, according to Sky Sports Online.

The FIA announced on Monday that the Italian manufacturer will host a three-day test from December 17-19 at the Sakhir circuit with the teams using their 2013 cars.

All the teams were invited, but Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Force India and Toro Rosso were the only ones to accept the offer.

However, McLaren and Force India have now decided they will not head to Bahrain.

"We are not testing in Bahrain next week," a McLaren spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Force India admits the tight schedule forced them to withdraw from the test.

"Given the short notice of this test taking place and the timeframes involved, the team will not be attending the test," the Silverstone squad's spokesman said.
