Grosjean to debut new Lotus

Romain Grosjean will be behind the wheel when the new E22 hits the track in Bahrain on Wednesday, the Enstone team confirmed...

Lotus added that the Frenchman will test the car on the first two days of the four-day test, while his new team-mate Pastor Maldonado will then take over driving duties on Saturday and Sunday.

Although Lotus finished in fourth place in the Constructors' Championship last season, the last few months have been a struggle both on and off the track.

After missing out on a sponsorship deal with Quantum Motorsport, they lost Team Principal Eric Boullier to McLaren and decided not to test their car at last month's first official test at Jerez, the only F1 team to do so.

This week's test in Bahrain will be the first time the E22 will be tested officially, but Lotus were allowed a behind-closed-doors run at filming event on the same course last week.

The run offered a sneak peak of the front of the car and revealed a unique nose design among the 2014 cars - a two-pronged nose.

Confirmed Drivers Schedule for Bahrain test:

Red Bull: Sebastian Vettel - Wednesday and Thursday; Daniel Ricciardo - Friday and Saturday.

Lotus: Romain Grosjean - Wednesday and Thursday; Pastor Maldonado - Friday and Saturday.

Force India: Nico Hulkenberg - Wednesday and Thursday; Sergio Perez - Friday and Saturday.

McLaren: Kevin Magnussen - Wednesday and Thursday; Jenson Button - Friday and Saturday.

Marussia: Jules Bianchi - Wednesday and Saturday; Max Chilton on Thursday and Friday.

Caterham: Robin Frijns - Wednesday; Kamui Kobayashi - Thursday and Saturday; Marcus Ericsson - Friday.
