Fernando Alonso admits Ferrari still have a lot of work to do before Australia after a solid day of testing in Bahrain.
The double World Champion brought his F14T home in second place at the Sakhir circuit, clocking a 1:37.879 to finish 0.999s adrift of Nico Hulkenberg.
During the course of the day, Alonso covered 64 laps during which he checked on all aspects of the new power unit systems as well as aerodynamic testing.
His day, though, wasn't without problems as he brought out the first red flag of the morning when an oil leak forced him to stop out on track.
"It's nice to be driving again, especially when you have more reference points compared to the previous time, which means you get a better feeling for the car," Alonso told the Ferrari website.
"We are also at a track that is more representative, with normal temperatures, where it's been easier to understand tyre behaviour.
"We are in a phase where we are discovering things and with every lap, we learn something new.
"For everyone, there is still a lot to do to be well prepared for Melbourne, so it will be important to make the most of every day we have available to us."
