Rosberg 'didn't do much wrong'

Despite missing out on a front wrong grid slot in Melbourne, Nico Rosberg reckons he didn't do much wrong - but he also didn't get it all right.

The German driver entered Saturday's qualifying for the Australian GP as the one to beat having set the pace by more than a full second in the weekend's final practice session.

But with the rain coming down, the conditions in qualifying were very different.

Rosberg lost out to not only team-mate Lewis Hamilton but also Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo as his 1:44.595 was only enough for third.

"I'm not sure what the others were doing - we didn't get everything right, but we didn't do much wrong, but all in all it was a good qualifying session," he said.

"I'm pleased with third - we could do better, but at least with that a good race is possible."

And a good race come rain or shine is what Rosberg expects to have come Sunday's 58-lap Australian GP.

"It will be a different story tomorrow depending on the weather. There is a small chance of rain but it's more likely to be dry and totally different."

However, the Mercedes driver, like his rivals, will have to cope with fuel consumption for the first time as drivers are now limited to just 100kgs of fuel per grand prix. And that, Rosberg concedes, won't be easy.

"Melbourne is the most difficult track for fuel consumption so it will be difficult to save fuel during the race. It will be a big challenge."
