Red Bull confident of 'strong case'

Red Bull will appeal Daniel Ricciardo's Australian disqualification in Paris on Monday, confident they have a "very strong case."

Ricciardo raced to second place in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, a moment to savour for the Aussie driver.

However, hours later his joy turned to disappointment.

Disqualified after his RB10 was found to have "consistently exceed" the maximum allowed fuel flow rate of 100 kilograms per hour.

Red Bull argued that the problem lay with the sensors provided by the FIA and they therefore chose to use their own.

Motorsport's governing body, though, insists that no sensor except the ones they supply are permitted, adding that Red Bull had been warned several times during the Australian GP weekend.

Red Bull appealed Ricciardo's exclusion and will now face the FIA in Paris on Monday.

"Those points are vital, every point is vital," team principal Christian Horner stated.

"We believe we've a very strong case.

"As more races have progressed issues have become more evident, new evidence has come to light, new understandings have come to light.

"Hopefully we can present our case fairly and get the second place Daniel deserves from Melbourne."

Red Bull arrived at the FIA HQ on Monday morning with Horner, Adrian Newey and Paul Monagham as part of their group while Autosport reports that Mercedes, McLaren, Lotus, Williams and Force India are also part of the hearing.

The five judges in the case are Harry Duijm, Rui Botica Santos, Philippe Narmino, Antonio Rigozzi and Jan Stovicek.

PlanetF1 will bring you all the news from the hearing as it emerges.
