Less than a day after leaving the Caterham F1 team, Renault Sport have confirmed that Cyril Abiteboul is to return to the engine company.
Abiteboul moved to Caterham in September 2012, taking on the role of team CEO. This season he stepped up into the team boss position, replacing Tony Fernandes.
However, earlier this week Caterham was sold to a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors who announced that former F1 driver Christijan Albers would take over as team boss.
Abiteboul, though, won't be unemployed for very long as Renault have confirmed he will take up the position of managing director of Renault Sport F1. He previously worked for Renault from 2001 to 2012.
Meanwhile, Renault also confirmed that Jean-Michel Jalinier, the president and managing director of Renault Sport F1, would be stepping down with Jerome Stoll being promoted to his position.
