'Russian GP will go ahead'

The organisers of the Russian GP are adamant it will go ahead as planned despite Thursday's tragic loss of lives.

The conflict in eastern Ukraine has been dominating headlines over the last few days after Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 was shot down.

All 298 people on board are believed to have died.

The tragedy has raised questions about whether it is safe - or even right - for Formula 1 to race in Russia.

The organisers, though, insist the race will go ahead as planned on 12 October.

Promotors told The Associated Press that "all the preparations are on track and run according to the schedule," and that "organisers are confident that the inaugural Russian Grand Prix will be comfortable for all."
