Formula 1 will head to Russia later this season after team bosses ruled out a boycott.

Following the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, which killed all 298 people on board, there have been called for Formula 1 not to visit Russia in October.

However, F1 team bosses insist the race will go ahead.

"Obviously what's going on in Russia and that part of the world at the moment is of huge concern to everybody - but we've always said as a support we try to disengage from taking a political angle on these things," said Williams deputy Claire Williams.

"Here the FIA is the governing body of our sport, they issue a calendar and we have to take our direction from them and at the moment, the race is still on the calendar."

Force India team boss Vijay Mallya said it was up the FIA where the teams raced.

"We followed the FIA's directive, or recommendation," he said. "It's up to the FIA to guide us and we all follow what the FIA guidance is.

Meanwhile, Monisha Kaltenborn, whose Sauber team is backed by Russian partners, added: "We have to rely on the governing body and the commercial rights holder.

"They are the ones who have the responsibility and we will do as they say like we've done in the past."
