Alonso recommits to Ferrari

Fernando Alonso has confirmed that he will remain at Ferrari for at least another season, despite McLaren's public interest and Scuderia's poor 2014 season.

Alonso went to McLaren as the two-time reigning Drivers' Championship winner in 2007, but went back to Renault the next season after a tumultuous time as Lewis Hamilton's team-mate at the Woking outfit.

He then returned to Renault for two seasons before making the switch to Ferrari after the 2009 Formula One season.

Since then the Spaniard - widely regarded as the best all-round driver on the grid - has cut something of a forlorn figure as first Red Bull Racing and later Mercedes started to dominate the sport.

As a result, Alonso has been widely linked with a move away from Scuderia with McLaren admittedly keen to re-sign him, but the 33-year-old has dismissed rumours linking him with a return to his former team just yet.

"It's not my intention at the moment to move, I want to win here and finish the job that we start some years ago," he told Sky Sports News in an exclusive interview ahead of this week's Italian Grand Prix.

"There has been a lot of talk since last summer but from my mouth there never came any interest to leave Ferrari or any words saying l would join another team.

"There was a lot of speculation, which is not disturbing but it created a little bit of tension and stress. Yet you also feel happy and proud that the best teams have an interest in you."

Last week, Ferrari Team Principal Marco Mattiacci announced that both Alonso and his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen - a former McLaren driver as well - will be retained at the Maranello team for the 2015 season.
