No tears from retiring Schumacher

There were no tears from Michael Schumacher in the immediate aftermath of his final race in Formula One at Interlagos.

Three years after returning to the sport with Mercedes, the seven-time World Champion hangs up his racing glove for good after the Brazilian Grand Prix. While his first stint in Formula One was very successful, the German bows out for a second time with no race victories and only one podium to his name.

Having started 13th on the grid in Brazil, Schumacher finished seventh on Sunday but managed to kept his emotions in check after the race.

"My emotions are under control at the moment, maybe later having a drink and hugging the mechanics it'll become more sentimental but I'm looking forward to life after Formula 1 now," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

While Schumacher didn't walk away with any silverware on Sunday, there was one German who was over the moon at the conclusion of the race as Sebastian Vettel, who finished sixth, won the title for a third consecutive season.

The 43-year-old paid tribute to his "good friend".

"I think it's a nice ending I'm finishing off and he's [Sebastian Vettel] clinching his third title.

"I'm very proud of him and he's a good friend of mine and let's see what happens in his future."
