Fernando Alonso believes Mercedes will "be strong" at this weekend's Monaco GP as the layout suits their cars.
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton have secured pole position for the last three seasons but failed to turn any into a victory as their W04 struggled for race-pace on its Pirelli tyres.
This weekend's Monaco race, though, is a completely different story.
Given the nature of the track and the lack of high speeds, tyre wear is lessened which could play into the hands of the Mercedes duo.
"Mercedes will be strong," said Alonso.
"They have been on pole position for the last three grands prix so we expect them to be very strong again.
"They were on pole position last year with Michael [Schumacher] before he got the [grid] penalty.
"We know how difficult it is to overtake, if they are on pole position they are favourites."
As for the Ferrari driver's own targets, while he would love a third Monaco triumph, he admits that's not the end goal.
"We are not going to forget our main target, which is the World Championship.
"At the moment, Vettel and Raikkonen are ahead of us.
"If Mercedes has to win one race, this is the one and we just need to concentrate on finishing in front of the others."
Sebastian Vettel is leading the Championship on 89 points, Kimi Raikkonen is four behind with Alonso a further 13 off the pace.
