Rosberg has faith in wing design

Nico Rosberg is confident Mercedes will not suffer a repeat his front wing failure when they take to the track in Japan.

At the last grand prix in Korea, Rosberg was forced to pit for a new nose when his front wing failed, putting on a light show of sparks as it dragged on the ground.

And although the German isn't willing to reveal the cause, he is confident it won't happen again.

"No," he told Autosport when asked if he feared a repeat.

"It [the design] has been there for eight years and it has never been a problem, it's just a very strange, unusual thing.

"I do [know what the problem was] but I don't know what to share. There was a fault in the material and that was it."

Meanwhile, the three-time grand prix winner is looking forward to a good Japanese GP, believing the Suzuka circuit should play to Merc's strengths.

"It's difficult to say at the moment which tracks suits our car and which not," he said.

"If you look at Singapore, we were quickest except for Red Bull, so you can't say our traction is a disaster because Singapore is all traction.

"If anything, maybe my tendency would be to think that high-speed corners are even better for us so this should be a good track."
