Mercedes men Niki Lauda and Toto Wolff are in support of the new double-points rule but add they should be handed out at more than just the season finale.
In a bid to ensure a dramatic finale for next year's Championship, Formula One has adopted the unusual policy of awarding double points for the final grand prix of the season.
The decision has not gone down well with many with drivers calling it "absurd" and "unfair."
However, bucking the trend, triple World Champ Lauda says it is a good call and should be implemented more often.
"More bonus points should be given in the last third of the season," he told SpeedWeek.
Meanwhile, Wolff added that "a (higher) distribution for regions or continents would make sense."
