Rosberg proud to silence F1 critics

Drivers' Championship leader Nico Rosberg has admitted that he is pleased to have played a role in silencing the critics of Formula One during last week's exciting Bahrain Grand Prix.

FIA President Jean Todt, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone as well as Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo were all present at Sakhir last weekend to discuss the future of the sport.

With several of the sport's bigwigs in the stands, Rosberg and his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton battled for top spot throughout the race and even though the Briton triumphed in the end, Rosberg admitted that he was thrilled to have been involved in such an exhilarating race.

During an exclusive interview with crash.net this week, Rosberg confessed that he was pleased to be able to help the sport be in the headlines for positive reasons.

"I've noticed that the race in Bahrain has been very positively received and that's really satisfying to see as I care very deeply about this sport," Rosberg told crash.net on Tuesday.

"I find the criticism that the new regulations have received to be very unfair, as it's far too early to judge such a revolutionary set of regulations. Unfortunately, however, those voices had been getting louder and louder.

"In my mind there was no better way, in the entire world, to silence them than by producing what has been described as one of the most exciting races in the history of Formula One.

"Although I was disappointed with the race result, that disappointment has quickly been replaced by a massive attack mode for China along with the happiness at having been able to do my bit for the sport."
