With Jules Bianchi off to Force India, Ferrari have re-signed Davide Rigon, although insist he is not their official reserve driver.
Force India announced on Friday that Ferrari protégé Bianchi would join them this season as their official test and reserve driver, taking part in a minimum of nine Friday practice sessions at grand prix weekends.
The announcement from Force India was followed up by a congratulatory message from Ferrari who wish the 22-year-old Frenchman 'all the best.'
The Italian stable was also quick to point out that Binachi 'will still be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.'
Ferrari had an announcement of their own to make, revealing that GP2 driver Rigon had extended his deal with Ferrari and would be "on call for the team for all racing and promotional activities also for the 2012 and 2013 seasons."
"I am very happy to have extended my connection to the most important team in Formula 1," said Rigon.
"This is a great boost for my future after what was a difficult 2011: Ferrari always stood by me in the most difficult moments of my recovery after my accident last May and I hope to be able to repay them for the faith they showed in me."
However, Rigon's deal with the Scuderia does not necessarily mean he is their official reserve driver for the 2012 season.
"No, because we do not have any obligation to declare a reserve driver," a Ferrari spokesperson said when the question was posed by GPUpdate.net.
