Fernando Alonso may have been the fastest man at Jerez on Friday, however, the Ferrari driver admits his team still has a long way to go.
With subdued start to pre-season testing in which Ferrari failed to break the 1:20.000 barrier, concerns had been raised within the Italian stable about their new F2012's pace.
However, those concerns were laid to rest early on Friday morning when Alonso posted a 1:19 only to better it a short while later with a 1:18.877.
That lap time proved to be the best of the day even though Alonso's running was restricted to 39 laps due to a hydraulics problem.
"We learned a lot about the difference of the car (compared to last year's)," he told Sky Sports News.
"It's been a learning test for us, a lot of constant speeds for us to do the aero and mechanical tests.
"Overall, it has been a positive four days for us and understanding the car.
"But obviously with a completely new concept and a completely new design there is a lot of room for improvement for us and that's what we need to focus on in the next couple of tests."
